The 4th and 2 play had more than one option. I think Aikman showed it during the game there was another player (Cooley?) across the first down marker and Gibbs also said in the monday presser there were options on the play. He just didnt throw JC under the bus and deflected the question and blame to himself as a head coach should.
Wasnt totally the coaches call. Was a combination of the call and the read imho.
Rajmahal33 10-16-2007, 09:34 AM I don't really mind Aikman b/c he seems to be more biased towards QB's than against the Redskins. For instance, he was defending Jason Campbell a lot on those drops and downplaying his interception. I think he just doesn't like it when receivers drop balls (as is natural for any QB) and it comes out in his calling of the game. Since our WR's played a piss poor game this week its natural that he sounded a little biased. Again its definitely not what bothered me the most about that game.
Btw, Duke Vitale, i mean Dick Vitale is the most biased color commentator in history...I don't know how they allow him to do Duke or ACC games anymore b/c its such a homoerotic lovefest. He is practically on his knees by the Duke bench during every TV timeout. The man admits that he likes Duke, the Yankees, the Lakers, and the Cowboys, what a frontrunner!
sandtrapjack 10-16-2007, 10:07 AM Sorry but I'm not talking about a cowboys or eagles game. I'm talking about the redskins games that Aikman is a broadcaster on. Because you think that about the commentators for cowboys or eagles games doesn't mean it proves anything to me and I will change my mind.
Actually the fact that Aikman did that much sucking up to the eagles to appear unbaised makes me question his integrity more as a broadcaster.
I really can't argue with that at all. Many of those same accusations were made against Thiesman, and his alleged bias against Dallas when he was a commentator.
BleedBurgundy 10-16-2007, 10:33 AM As far as Aikman goes he has always been very fair with his comments on game day about us, I believe he does a great job on our games with a tremendous insight on what is right and wrong on the offensive side of the ball, unfortunately there are to many out there who want to here how great we are 24-7, to say other wise is blasphemy, so he gets lambasted because he played for the cowboys, he's been as unbiased towards us as you could ask for, in fact I have felt in the past that he may even go out of his way to be fair as to not be taken biased because he was a cowboy, I for one hope he continues with our games.
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. I've often wondered whether or not Aikman was a closet Redskin Fan.
BTW-- Do you ever get the urge to kick anyone down a well?
pwhitney 10-16-2007, 10:40 AM Once body catches are stopped we will start to catch passes and the overall offense will improve. This is receiving 101. Don't catch the ball with your body catch it with your hands! Watch some film of the other Moss, you know the one on the Patriots, and see how many time he catches with his body. That's exactly none, zero, never. He always uses hands catching technique which is why his drops are so low.
Fix that and we will start to win!
InsanePianist 10-16-2007, 11:33 AM My concern is how we look so good in the first half, so crappy the second.
--reminds me of another game we lost, with a fourteen point lead at halftime....

LMAO...LOL
BleedBurgundy 10-16-2007, 01:53 PM Ha, you got it.
TheCounselor 10-16-2007, 03:47 PM The play calling was questionable as well.
We had something like 37 passes and 24 runs, All of this when: a) the field is deteriorating; b) 3/5 of our line gets injured (it's much easier to run block than pass block, especially in the rain and when the Pack line is very good); and c) your WR's are having a hard time hanging on to the ball. RUN THE BALL! Also, Cooley had 97 yards in the first half, 8 in the second. Huh? Easy, quick passes to Cooley also would have helped the line.
The U:
Didn't Moss, Portis and Sean Taylor all attend that institution of higher learning located in Miami? And if I'm not mistaken, their nickname is the Hurricanes. Hurricane implies wet weather, does it not? Presumably they have played in the rain in Siouth Florida before. So, please explain: Taylor (2 easy interceptions dropped; 2 out of 4 - arrrrggh; Portis - 1 fumble; Moss - 1 fumble and multiple drops.
Carlos Rogers: 1st round bust. That was the worst miss on Lee's catch

Running the ball wasn't helping either. Portis and Moss both fumbled on easy run plays.
Brian Mitchell said, you're paid to hold onto the ball under any circumstances. Though weather played a factor these guys have to guy out there and hold onto something. Not make excuses. I seriously doubt anyone is expecting perfection, but Cooley isn't some sort of genetically altered football catching beast that can magically catch in the rain. ANYONE can make 9 catches for 105 yards. The fact is Redskins WR's did not go out there and do the job. And even though Cooley was doing the best job of any of the receivers out there, it's bullshit to try to lay everything on him and make him step up cause everyone else can't. Besides, how long can you keep dropping passes into the guy before the opposing team starts to double team him?
