JWsleep 10-15-2007, 05:13 PM Or maybe the real redskin team is the one that beat Detroit.
I think Boswell's article in the WPost today is pretty good on this point. Try to stay on an even keel, and be ready for some close games. But why would you give up on a team that has a good D, a rising young QB, and has a good chance of being 4-2 in a week NFC after next week?
warriorzpath 10-15-2007, 05:15 PM No, it was Moss's fault. If you touch it you must catch it. Moss deflected up in the air, woodson and ARE came down with it, and for some weird reason the refs gave GB the ball.
Like I said, he said many negative things about the Cowboys as well, he trys not show any lean toward any team. They try not say too many good or bad things about either team. Remeber, Packers as well as Redskins fans watch the game. Fox doesn't want to lose either fan-base and I am sure they strict commentators on how much they can praise or critisize a team. I am talking in general here, not just Aikman.
My fault in forgetting how Moss had his hands on the ball in that play. But it still doesn't change my opinion about Aikman though. Can't help but feel with the way he comments that he is biased against the redskins, but hides it enough to make it appear that it's not that way. But that's only my personal feeling about it after listening through some of the redskins games that he was part of the broadcasting on. I just noticed after those games that I felt negative about the redskins and then I realized that he was on those games. I put 2 and 2 together and then I paid attention more to what he was saying during the games and felt he was the reason. But that's just me.

LOL...yes you are right, weeks before the game, Aikman searches and researches info on how to make the Redskins look bad and ruin Redskins fans day. During those commercial breaks, he goes "muhahahahah".
You won't believe how many threds were locked and how many members were banned because of their comments about Aikman following a Cowboys @ Eagles game. I didn't like either commentator yesterday, Simms or Nanz. I, on the other hand, believe that it had alot to do with the scoreboard than the commentators themselves.
TheBigD 10-15-2007, 05:42 PM ... and has a good chance of being 4-2 in a week NFC after next week?
do you mean
4-2 in a weak NFC after next week?
OR
4-2 in a week NFC afer next weak?
:D

Sorry but I'm not talking about a cowboys or eagles game. I'm talking about the redskins games that Aikman is a broadcaster on. Because you think that about the commentators for cowboys or eagles games doesn't mean it proves anything to me and I will change my mind.
Actually the fact that Aikman did that much sucking up to the eagles to appear unbaised makes me question his integrity more as a broadcaster.

I know exactly what you're talking about and have made several comments on here about Aikman's commentating, but have always been met with strong resistance for some reason. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone.
jsarno 10-16-2007, 01:46 AM It's really not about the 9 seconds per se; it's about being prepared for situations like this. Planning ahead - what are going to do if we were put in this situation or that situation. It just doesn't look like gibbs and company have thought about situations beforehand. 4th and 1, it looks like we get a bad spot, late in the 4th qtr, down by 3. What do you do?
Under 2:39 left in the game, 1 timeout left. When do you call the timeout ?
These things need to be hashed through now, before, after the game - instead of during the game when you have 5 seconds to make a decision.
I actually agree with you on the whole...but just saying it wouldn't have mattered in this game, so I can't blame the coaching staff for anything in this loss.
Could they have had better clock management? Of course, but I just don't think it makes any difference in this game which makes it a moot point.
Gmanc711 10-16-2007, 02:08 AM I honestly compeltley disagree with you guys about Aikman. I think that he's the best color guy out there, and if you listen to him broadcast, he'll say negative stuff about the Skins, but he'll say just as negative stuff about everyone else.... I mean with the way some of our players played yesterday, Its pretty hard to praise them...I think he does a fine job.

I think, admittedly, I find things wrong with his commentating cause I just don't like him. I honestly don't care...he's just a commentator...nothing the mute button can't fix. But I do see the points of people that think he's negative against the Skins...oh well.
I think commentators are like artwork, some people will love them, and some will think they are complete poo. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
offiss 10-16-2007, 05:59 AM Well for one of the few times since Gibbs return I saw a game plan that was worthy of his talents, we threw the ball like we should, if this continues teams will start backing off the line of scrimmage opening up the run game a little more, the fact is dropped ball were responsible for this lose, if we just make the reasonable catches we win by a minimum of 14 points, add into that Taylors inability to make a routine INT and this game could have been a blow out in our favor. I had maybe one gripe about play calling and that was the 4th and 2 play where we cleared out the backfield and threw the ball in the flat and got nothing you have to make the LB's respect the run there with play action if you plan on throwing, other than that I had no problem. The end around to Moss was and is something we should be doing more often with him and ARL, the fact that he fumbled isn't Gibbs fault. I feel considering we had a decimated O-line the coaching should get an A+ for the game plan, the players definitely lost this one big time!
Portis's possible problem? It's this simple for 2 years he was racking up numbers in a RB friendly system, he became a legend in his own mind and many others, couple that with Gibbs willingness to pay him 52 mil, and give away the best CB in the league well that just cemented that thought, now everyone is seeing what Portis really is a nice change of pace type back, he is not built to carry the work load on a consistent basis, the fact is he is a media personality and he receives plenty of hype for that, but he is vastly overrated as a RB.
As far as Aikman goes he has always been very fair with his comments on game day about us, I believe he does a great job on our games with a tremendous insight on what is right and wrong on the offensive side of the ball, unfortunately there are to many out there who want to here how great we are 24-7, to say other wise is blasphemy, so he gets lambasted because he played for the cowboys, he's been as unbiased towards us as you could ask for, in fact I have felt in the past that he may even go out of his way to be fair as to not be taken biased because he was a cowboy, I for one hope he continues with our games.
