keanu reeves was clutch that game
Dan Marino On Su-Skinschrisl4064 10-13-2007, 05:28 PM keanu reeves was clutch that game jgalecpa 10-13-2007, 06:24 PM what did he say or do ? i came in late on the show and saw he was the only one to pick the Skins this week. When talking about the replacement players Joe G Fielded that Beat Daaaaaanyyy White, Tom Landry, Ed Too Tall Jones, etc., Marino said "They didn't do anything. All they did was take a game check from NFL Players." Later they showed him wear a pink polo and plum smuggler shorts while walking a picket line. Even Lt Dangle wouldn't have worn that outfit. J-Dawg PS In 1983, they didn't play any games during the strike [My daughter has on her wall framed 4, un separated tickets to each of the cancelled games]. in 1987 the NFL decided games would be played (the owners had to give the fans back the tix prices since the games were cancelled in 1983), and the results would count towards the playoffs. GTripp0012 10-13-2007, 06:24 PM throws in the crunch that makes a team a winning team. I'm all about the wins, something Marino could never be bothered withMiami averaged nine and a half wins a season while Dan Marino was rostered. Roughly identical to the Packers' during Favre's career. Don't stick to a ridiculous position. bigSkinsfan61 10-13-2007, 10:22 PM Could mean BIG throws in Superbowls, cuz he never made it to the Superbowl. he did make it to the superbowl he lost to the 49ers bigSkinsfan61 10-13-2007, 10:23 PM marino has what credibilty? the man always had a million yards passing, but could never make the big throws when they counted. that win over dallas has to go down as one of the best coaching jobs, ever. but wasnt it in 1982? it was in 87' also there was a strike year in 82' redskins also won the bowl that year too jsarno 10-13-2007, 10:36 PM On "Inside the NFL" , they had a long piece about the '87 strike skins who beat Dallas on MNF. As most of you know, we had 100% replacement players and Dallas had Danny ("No Danny, No!") White, Tony Dorsett, Ed Too-tall Jones, etc. on the field. Charlie talked about the speech Joe Gibbs gave before hand to the guys, who promptly beat America's Team and completed a 4-0 stand. Asked what he thought about what the replacement team accomplished, Dan Marino said the Replacemenet players "Didn't do a thing. All they did was take game checks away from NFL players. Sure A few stars crossed the line but that was it." Gimme a break, Mr. I-Never-won-the-big game. There were two future hall of famers on that field, and our coaching beat Dallas. Joe Gibbs won more with less than you ever did. J-Dawg Good post, except for the America's team part. They have never been, nor never will be america's team...that's why they self dubbed themselves. If we start calling the Redskins the best franchise in the world, we will all agree, but it doesn't make it true. dmek25 10-13-2007, 11:00 PM Miami averaged nine and a half wins a season while Dan Marino was rostered. Roughly identical to the Packers' during Favre's career. Don't stick to a ridiculous position. the one thing that makes a huge difference between the 2 is that Favre has a super bowl win. if your not in it to win it, then why bother? sorry, but i obviously don't have the same man crush for Marino that you do jgalecpa 10-13-2007, 11:09 PM [quote=jsarno;363309]Good post, except for the America's team part. J-Dawg PS: About the whole Marino as God/Goat, Some will disagree, clearly, but I do believe the failure to get in and win the big game taints his record. Clearly he had immens talent in the skills needed to throw the ball, etc. But he apparently lacked some leadership skills needed to lead them to the ultimate victory. Not the same for a WR or LB or other position. jsarno 10-13-2007, 11:28 PM Truly sorry about that. My Sarcastic font was not working. J-Dawg LOL...no biggy man. PS: About the whole Marino as God/Goat, Some will disagree, clearly, but I do believe the failure to get in and win the big game taints his record. Clearly he had immens talent in the skills needed to throw the ball, etc. But he apparently lacked some leadership skills needed to lead them to the ultimate victory. Not the same for a WR or LB or other position. I don't take much away from him in the fact that he has not won a SB. Think about it, he is one of 22 players (not including special teams) on that field. Granted he touches the ball tied for the most, or the 2nd most on the team (center), but there is a team out there. Under Shula's tenure (83-95) the defense ranked under 10th only 3 times. Their average defensive rank was 15.46 over that span, and keep in mind there were 28 teams, they were below average for Marino's entire career. Under Jimmie Johnson (1996-1999), here were his defensive ranks, 17th, 16th, 1st, 19th. How many 1000 yard rushers did he have? So he didn't have a running game, and he didn't have good defenses...how the hell was he supposed to win with that? djnemo65 10-14-2007, 06:11 AM I think he comes off as a spoiled baby here. Take issue with the owners, fine, but to criticize the players who came into play for a few games is absurd. |
