12thMan 10-12-2007, 02:32 PM Yes, 12th continues to channel his inner Earthquake as Smooty put it.
I really think I'm going to pass out before Sunday get's here from all the anxiety! But beyond the obvious, what will a 4-1 record really mean to the organization, the city, the fans..and the team itself?
No doubt, the Skins will have positioned themselves for a good run at the playoffs, but will this team somehow be looked at any differently from the one that made the playoff run a couple of years ago? Does it mean that perhaps Gibbs and his vaunted coaching staff have turned the corner?
More importantly, is it too early to have unbridled optimism?
Too many questions, so little time...
Let me put it like this. I do not live and breathe what the self appointed authorities in the press say................but I am sick and tired of all the we suck, bad team, bad staff, wasted millions of drivel we have heard for WAY THE F...to long.
If we win this week, that dumbass rhetoric will cease for all but extreme dumass's, like Salsbury,
We will achieve legitimacy to those other than the Redskin faithful. We will be a REAL "in-season" threat (not just pre-season).
HTTR
KICK THE PACKS ASSSSSSS
12thMan 10-12-2007, 02:45 PM You know, last week I mentioned that the game had somewhat of a "playoff vibe" too it. Well, we're pass that now. And we did well.
This week, if I had to describe it, it's almost like the team is getting a mid season makeover. A new image, so to speak.
GhettoDogAllStars 10-12-2007, 02:48 PM This is the biggest game of the year for us, so far. If we beat the Pack, it will be huge. Who cares about the media, if we win it will help the team a lot. It will give us confidence and momentum. We can be the best team in the league, we just have to believe it.
scowan 10-12-2007, 02:55 PM Right now a lot of the power rankings have the Skins in the top 10, but they are also the worst of the 3-1 teams (ranked 8th or 9th). A win this week should obviously put the Skins higher than the Packers who are ahead of them, but it should move them up to the top 5 or 6 I would hope. Even with a win, and a Cowboys loss, I don't think the Skins will pass the Cowboys in the power rankings until the Boys have more losses than the Skins or the Skins play them and beat them.
freddyg12 10-12-2007, 03:04 PM I think it depends on HOW we win. Not that any win won't be big, it will be. But if our D can shut down GB even 50% as much as we did Detroit & JC plays well, there will be a lot of talk & raised expectations. If the pokes lose in addition, PTI will debate the best team in the nfc.
Some still will say that we haven't faced a good, well balanced offense, which is true to an extent.
This is the first of 5 of 7 games on the road. I say if the Skins can get through this rough part of the schedule at 4-3 they'll be in very good shape for the stretch run.
To answer the original question here I believe a road win against the Pack will solidify the Skins as a legit contender in the NFC.
It means one step closer to the playoffs, that's it.
It's been a while since we had a solid team to cheer for, So I can understand the excitement but all the hype doesn't mean anything without a strong showing in the playoffs.
The chargers had one of the best seasons in NFL history last year and ended 1 and done in the playoffs.
I couldn't care less about ESPN, CNNSI, Peter King or any other power rankings.
The only ranking that matters is the top 6 in the NFC at the end of week 17. Get in the playoffs and then, You let the teams rank themselves.

I don't buy that argument anymore. In fact, this whole thing floating around the media and even here on Warpath, they've only played so and so team, or next week is a real test...then when next week comes....the next week is a bigger test.
The same can be said about Dallas and New England, who have they played of stature? The truth is, the majority of the league is somewhere in the middle right now, and any given Sunday the outcome could swing either way. You play who's on the schedule and do your best.
dmek25 10-12-2007, 03:15 PM 12th another good thread. i think it really goes a long way in making the organization start to believe that they really are a playoff team. too me, a win in green bay goes a long way
