vaoutlaws2006 10-12-2007, 08:54 AM he called it like he saw it. and i just dont see them winning 10 games either. More like 7 or 8 until the figure out a way to run the ball and as long as mike martz is calling the plays its gonna be pass first. and that just isnt a good receipe for success in the NFL. The only way this could comeback and bit us in the ass is if they make the playoffs which seems a little unlikely.
Daseal 10-12-2007, 11:22 AM the real question is more, can they run the ball. They have stud WRs, and a solid QB. However, I think their line wont blow anyone up, but the hope is maybe DEs will trip over their Olinemen giving Kitna time to get it out.
hooskins 10-12-2007, 11:26 AM I think this is actually being taken out of context, this interview was on Elliot in the Morning, he and Elliot always have a joking relationship. Cooley in general doesn't have the ability to be serious about anything.
ATTENTION: THOSE WHO DO NOT READ ALL POSTS IN THREADS.
Start doing that. This was a quote taken out of context from EITM. Go to the website to understand it.
Monkeydad 10-12-2007, 12:05 PM Chris is right. The Lions stopped playing...in 1958.

Hey , we weren't out there, and Cooley was! Maybe they did slow down a little at the end. All I know is that punt return by Thrash where he fumbled and Rock recovered was huge. If Detroit recovers, maybe they get some life, but they don't so the next play to Sellers for a TD, put it away at 24-3 with about 10 minutes to go.
Cooley is funny, I love the guy, it will be a long time before the Skins play the Lions again. At this point if the season ended today, the NFC playoff teams would be Cowboys, Packers, Cardinals, Bucs, and the Wildcards would be Skins either Panters or Seahawks. Its along season, but we probably won't see the Lions again, and if we do it will be at home!
70Chip 10-12-2007, 02:11 PM When you have the ball 22 minutes in the first half... When its 100 degrees on the field... When you are a physical, smashmouth team and your opponent relies on finesse... Then it's simply a matter of time before the other team says, "To hell with this. Let's go home." Anyone watching the game could see that's what happened. Cooley's not saying anything there that wasn't obvious to all.

Exactly, traditional redskins football. When they play redskins football, it's hard to beat. Something tells me this will happen for the rest of the season.
warriorzpath 10-12-2007, 03:07 PM And forget all the stats and all that - that's what you look at for game-planning, giving out awards, seeing why a team won after the fact, fun for fans, and stuff like that. When you get down to it, if you set up a good game plan, are able to adjust, and you play more physical then the other team - you will win - simple as that. I'm pretty sure gibbs and co. do not look at the stats as a goal to get to, like time of possession. That's what Gibbs was getting so upset about last friday when the reporter said that going into a game, a goal was to run 70% of the time. Maybe he said it, but he didn't appear to mean it.
warriorzpath 10-12-2007, 03:22 PM Maybe football coach gibbs is truly finally back. Instead of showing up in some or most of the season.
What I mean by this is - gibbs's identity still seemed to be made up of part Nascar and part NFL. Nascar - stats and numbers are key goals, physical contact with the opponent should be avoided. NFL - being physical with the opponent is key in winning, stats and numbers are very helpful for assessing and preparing, but should not be used as goals to get to on game day.
I think the football coach in Gibbs is 100% back.
dmek25 10-12-2007, 03:23 PM i could care less what Cooley said about the lions. until they figure out how to win in D.C., ill play them 100 times a year here. and who better to know if the lions quit? you cant lie down on the field
