Southpaw 10-08-2007, 12:29 PM Yeah he is amazing. He is about 2 picks away from all time interception record too.
He is just a gunslinger, that's all.
Yeah... Just a gunslinger. The fact that he won three league MVP's, a Superbowl, and is the all time touchdown/wins/(possibly future)yardage leader among ALL quarterbacks means nothing...

Those are great numbers, stats, and accomplishments, no doubt. But what are the FOOTBALL fans supposed to do? Forget the game and just watch what #4 does because we are so privileged to see him play. There are other players in the GB team, and there are 31 other teams in the NFL. Why make the NFL all about Favre?

I was only addressing the comment that Brett Favre "is a gunslinger, that's all".
As far as the media hard-on for Favre, I don't care one way or the other.
PFunk26 10-08-2007, 02:40 PM It is kinda sad that the media has made most people inadvertedly dislike him, just cause we're blasted with him everytime he's on the tv, believe me living in Milwaukee I get it more then most, every local channel has a packer/Favre Lovefest!

Seriously, who gives a damn who the media darling of the week is? I could care less if the media was saying Jason Campbell was overrated, I don't care about media love or respect, all I'm concerned with is wins and losses. If you don't like what the media has to say, don't pay attention. I watch sports about 24/7 and I don't retain much other than stats. Sometimes while a guy is talking, I'll get a little fired up, but I don't let it change the way I view the game or view that guy.
I think a lot of people on this site need to start paying a lot less attention to the way things are covered.
As for my comment about Peyton Manning earlier, that has nothing to do with the media, just all of his f*ckin commercials.

I can really care less too, but how do you watch the games? You put the volume on mute? I stopped watching NFL Prime Time and pregame crap long ago, but during the game, come on, Madden and those guys need to lay off the "Favre is a wrrior......blah blah" subject.
The Zimmermans 10-08-2007, 04:18 PM Madden always says what I am thinking.....maybe he's my dad
Monksdown 10-08-2007, 04:44 PM It's a lot easier to like Brett, than Dan Marino. I think this is the nation taking a collective breath of fresh air. Finally, the most prolific passer of this game isnt a complete self-absorbed asshole.

Turn your volume on mute when you play us ,,,, Landry is going to KO Romo ,,,,, put him in a skirt and send him home :) Damn I crack myself up !
JWsleep 10-08-2007, 06:40 PM Come on--Favre is a pretty great story for the media. Great, fun loving guy who plays a unique kind of football (however you want to define it, he's not like anyone else), who's won big and lost big, who has also had lots of tragedy in his life, and is having a crazy rejuvenating season after a tearful pseudo-good bye thing last year. And you want the media to STOP talking about this... My guess is, and this is just a guess, that it aint gonna happen. Just get used to the love-fest--it's here to stay!
(We could help his record setting season by breaking the INT record for him this Sunday.)
