Paintrain 10-07-2007, 09:35 PM I really didn't see anything drastically different from the Giants game, the key today was we made some big plays, kept drives going, and converted 3rd downs. This play calling crap is so overrated.
I saw a dramatically different gameplan.. There were more mid-range downfield looks, more chances taken (passing on 4th and 2), more creative formations & play designs.. This is Saunders offense that he ran in St. Louis & KC, not as much of the 2 TE, 1 WR 3 yds and a cloud of dust offense we ran last game and in the 2nd halves of the first 3 games.
I didn't see much similarity to the Giants game
SmootSmack 10-07-2007, 09:38 PM I'll say this though, Saunders definitely outshone Mike Martz today. I think we got the right "genius"
FRPLG 10-07-2007, 10:38 PM Our defensive gameplan was just plain brilliant. Kudos.

Yupp, I remember people hating on Saunders.
Goddamn, where are all the Saunders haters now? I swear everyone on this board felt he was expendable.

I'm not sure I ever heard that here. If there were "problems" with our offense, it was usually Gibbs' fault.
I will say though, when we first hired him, I was a bit surprised considering we had just finished a playoff year under a true Joe Gibbs' offense. But even then, I was looking forward to the new wrinkles Saunders was to bring to us.

I concur:)
redsk1 10-08-2007, 10:26 AM Nice game plan and well executed on both sides of the ball. I do like the slants that were called often. With our speed we should be able to continue executing them!!
Southpaw 10-08-2007, 10:41 AM The coaches called a great game today. Especially Gregg Williams. If he had two weeks to prepare for every team, Washington would go undefeated.
And I think that direct snap to Portis, Wildcat formation is setting up a touchdown pass from Portis to Campbell, sometime in the future.
GTripp0012 10-08-2007, 10:49 AM But see I don't call having Portis run the ball out of shotgun "trick" plays. That is good creative playcalling. We should still run that stuff when Moss comes back. When you split the Qb out away from the formation it gives the offense an extra blocker.Only if the QB blocks.
I understand why they won't pull Campbell out of the game, probably because they have a play off that involving him, but it'd be tough to stop if we put in an extra TE like both Yoder and Pucillo.
No one is expecting pass anyway, might as well get 10 guys to block.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they ran that play w/ only CP and sellers in the the backfield-direct snap to CP-w/ a 6-7 yard gain right??
The first time they ran it- JC was shotgun-direct snap to CP over his head right?
If I remember right it looked like it was blocked pretty good by our o line.
BTW...no one has mentioned the oline-not a bad job today for a oline down 2 starters.
