the latest redskins insider blog posts show that it is very possible we wont have portis or moss for the lions game. Do we have a chance against the lions without them? are the 3-1 lions going to be favored against us at home .. or are we going to use betts and cartwright with our great left side but depleted right and bully the lions with a strong defensive showing?

whats it gonna be ? how do you guys feel about this game? i admit im nervous.

Stop jumping the gun, overreacting and spreading lies. :D

Seriously, they took off a Monday practice. Don't panic. Now if they miss practice all week and especially Friday, then get nervous. But until then...calm down!

Reading the ESPN scouts review of Lions-Bears was that the DET front 7 was too physical for the Bears. I wish we had Randy Thomas back..

Both Randy T. and Jon J. Having lost the right half of the O line is more than most teams can bear.

Im nervous regardless :) .. I titled the post "Can we win .. " to discuss a situation that is feasible (no CP or 'Tana)

We have trouble scoring points w/ Moss. If we don't have him it's not looking good cause Det. is going to score.

I'm hoping for that 'breakout game' from our offense. That is , if we're even to have one this year.

JC needs time to develop and the right side of the line needs time to gell. Maybe our new RG will be a big help in preparing for Detroit since he played there. Plus, our new wr's need time to get in synch. At least they're both vets who should be able to step in.

I'm not so worried about Portis missing practice, but Moss is a different story. Sounds like his injury is more serious. This game is definitely a tough one. We can hope that the Lions have a letdown after the win over chicago.

This week is a classic example of everybody needs to step up and pick up the slack for those who can't play due to injury. I think Moss and Portis will play, maybe not the whole game, but just their presence will help. I expect a big game from someone we wouldn't normally count on, I just don't know who yet. Maybe it is Lloyd, maybe Betts or the Rock. Our D has to be solid though. We can't get into a shootout with this team, we just weren't built for it.

As of now, we are challenged to beat practically anyone WITH Portis and Moss. I'm not one of the many doomsday posters here, but without either one of these guys, we will definately be challenged. Thats not to say that Betts can't pick up Portis' slack, but Betts lacks that extra umph that Portis brings. And our receivers? Well, you've already discussed those issues. I'm not a pro athlete, but I've had tendinitis in my shoulder for some time and on occasion, it hurts like hell and I can't even sleep. Granted, it's not my knee and I'm sure Clinton has a much higher threshold for handling pain than I ever will, but you gotta wonder how that is wearing on him. He's a tough SOB, so I doubt he'll let it stop him.

Looks like we're gonna need a breakout game from our offense AND defense!!! It's time for this team to show what they're made of.

We need to win against Detroit and it doesn't matter how.

I do not expect this game to be a "breakout" game on offense. It's hard to have a breakout game without two of your starting o-lineman, and possibly two of your starting offense weapons.

What I hope to see, is an offense similar to the end of 2006. We'll try and shove the ball up their throats, and pray for turnovers and plays on special teams. This is a very winnable game, but we'll need to control the clock.

I'm really hoping we can pull a close one out, because I really don't think they're is any other way to do it. Godspeed redskins.

Prediction: Redskins 20 Lions 17 (OT)

Every NFL team has injuries. It's not an excuse. Det played w/out Calvin Johnson last week.
