phillip rivers is the chargers weak point.he is just as bad this year as he was good last year.i do'nt blame this on turner,it's more rivers and teams keying on lt that have them in a rut.

Skinsfanmania 10-02-2007, 12:29 PM Someone in SD needs to get fired and I'm not talking about Norv. What a dysfunctional team and disgraceful performance! I'm having fun watching Norv screw things up in SD outside of I had Philip Rivers as my fantasy QB the first couple of weeks in one of my leagues. I would be happier if Norv was screwing things up in little D. However, after this season jason garrett will be a head coach somewhere in the NFL and dallas will be back to square one. Rajmahal33 10-02-2007, 01:17 PM The Chargers' first mistake was letting go of Drew Brees. I think now that they aren't in Marty ball mode, Rivers is being exposed as ppl have mentioned and Brees would've been the man for the job this year. I had always thought that the chargers shouldn't have made the trade/pick for Rivers that year in the first place...there were plenty of teams that needed a qb that would have given an arm and a leg for that pick. Their 2nd mistake was letting go of Donnie Edwards. He was a leader for that team and it never sends the right message to lose talent like that Then came the coaching changes. I agree that Marty shouldn't have been fired after going 14-2 but if u are going to fire the head coach, either promote a coordinator or bring a head coach who will work with the same coordinators AND RETAIN THOSE COORDINATORS. I actually give Snyder a lotta credit for keeping GW with the skins despite his numerous head coaching jobs after the 05 season. Even though 06 was a disaster, having GW here this year is undoubtably why we stand here at 2-1, with hope as the season continues. Finally when making coaching changes that are so rash as to firing ur head coach and losing ur coordinators, i think an organization who has a superstar like LT should get his his input before it makes any decisions about the future of the franchise. People will say well, they don't owe him anything more than his paycheck...but this is not the write approach if u want to promote harmony and loyalty. If they struggle, like they are, u don't want a situation in which the star player wants out b/c he wasn't consulted and believes that THAT is the reason why they are struggling. Nevertheless, things aren't as good or bad as they seem so i wouldn't be surprised if the chargers somehow turned this around and won their division. They are only 1 game back, right? jsarno 10-03-2007, 02:00 AM The Chargers' first mistake was letting go of Drew Brees. I want to point out that I agreed with everything else you said, EXCEPT the above quote. I have to assume you live in another country and have missed how dead awful Brees has been. Due to this fact, I will give you his stats: 677 yards, 1 td and 7 int's. Phillip Rivers: 886 yards, 5tds, and 6 int's. (also 1% better comp%). I'm not saying Rivers is a super stud right now, but no freakin way can you say Brees is the answer when he has a better receiving core in NO than Rivers has in SD and is doing twice as bad. It seems to be PC to jump on Rivers and dog him...but fact is, the plays have sucked for SD. Even ESPN saw that LT wasn't getting goal line looks, he wasn't even in the game for many plays. This has Norv stench all over it. He is a loser as a coach and he spread his infection in SD. dmek25 10-03-2007, 07:44 AM norv was the correct replacement for wade phillips, not marty Schottenheimer. With all those talented guys they need a disciplinarian, Marty was that.....just wait until merriman beats some guy to death in a bar after a loss can you explain this to me? why do you need a certain type coach, according to your talent level? and that guy hit it right on the head. some guys can, some guys cant CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 10-03-2007, 06:07 PM boy im glad they fired marty, norv is horrible.
