Maybe we've found a way to trade him ala Arch to the Bears.
That would be music...

Redskins Sign Keenan McCardellChief X_Phackter 09-27-2007, 04:45 PM Maybe we've found a way to trade him ala Arch to the Bears. That would be music... mlmpetert 09-27-2007, 04:57 PM Didnt know he was only 37!! Did you know we drafted him in 1991? Keenan McCardell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keenan_McCardell) WillH 09-27-2007, 05:06 PM Just found this in a random article about Keenan McCardell and thought it was worth posting: He's the ultimate possession receiver. He's caught more than 70 passes in a season seven times and racked up more than 1,000 yards receiving in five separate years. Hmmm that could be nice...a tall possession receiver, who knew there was such a thing? Later in the article: McCardell compares his accomplishments and style to former Redskins great Art Monk, who is among the most prolific possession receivers in NFL history. He learned a great deal from Monk during his one year in Washington. "I took a lot from Art," McCardell says. "He didn't say much, either. He was just one of those guys who did the job when his number was called. I learned how to be a smart receiver from him." and humble..? Even Later: "I always have the fire to play," he says. "I remember a coach saying about one guy that 'you'll have to roll him off the field.' That's the same thing with me." Now if this guy isn't the anti-Lloyd I dont know who is. He may be old, but in 2005 he put up over 900 yrds, and 9 TD's. I would not mind seeing him come here. P.S. we tried to sign him in June, but he lives in Houston and they offered him the same (vet min) contract. Oh and here's the article. Its a couple years old and there isn't much else in it that is interesting: NFLHS.COM - Players Spotlight: Keenan McCardell, San Diego Chargers (http://www.nflhs.com/news/playersspotlight/keenanmccardell_09212006_lcb.asp) JWsleep 09-27-2007, 05:47 PM Vet min? Sweet. Only 37--that makes me feel pretty good at 38. Maybe I can get the vet min as well. Didn't cut it with the Texans, which is not a good sign. But we'll see. JWsleep 09-27-2007, 05:49 PM More from JLac. KMaC may be on the way: McCardell Visit Scheduled tocome 9in on Monday for a visit. This will be his second trip to The Park and I wouldn't see them bringing him in without planning on signing him assuming he is in decent shape and passes a physical. Don't see them taking a cvap hit on Lloyd now and might as well wait throught he end of the season to see if you end needing WRs, but you have to think if they get back to carrying 6 WRs then he his days of being active are dwindling. We shall see next week. Cheers. Posted by Jason La Canfora JWsleep 09-27-2007, 05:52 PM From the Houston Chronicle on why KMaC was released (I'm on a roll here, people.): One place the Texans didn't keep too many players was at wide receiver, where they settled on five players instead of six, forcing McCardell to look outside his hometown for his 17th NFL season. "If I hadn't gotten hurt (hamstring), I would have gotten the opportunity I needed to make the team," said McCardell, who had just one reception for 16 yards in the preseason. "I understand it. It is what it is. I'm going to field some calls. I'm going to help a team this season. Hopefully, a playoff team. I know what I can do. I want to play another season." The reason Kubiak was able to release McCardell, Johnson and Anderson was because of the emergence of rookie Jacoby Jones, who had the best preseason of anyone on the team. "We drafted this kid in the third round," Kubiak said, "and had I been standing here today with him having a slow process of becoming a player in this league and helping this team, then there's no doubt we're keeping six. "I think his growth in such a short period of time and what he's been able to do has helped us keep five wide receivers. That's the bottom line." If Moss can't go I would like to see Brandon Lloyd get a shot. skinsfan_nn 09-27-2007, 06:17 PM So now the question is: If Moss cannot start against the Lions, who starts in his place? If Moss can't go I would like to see Brandon Lloyd get a shot. Sorry ass Lloyd is fourth on the depth chart. It would be El and Thrash, then possibly Caldwell or WASTE. chrisl4064 09-27-2007, 06:27 PM so moss got injured sunday, and we still have no idea how bad it is? |
