Sorry to sound pessimistic, but it truly wasn't my intention. I was just trying to be realistic and say that i just have a bad feeling about the season ahead of us if we don't change some things. I am not trying to be one of those people who says we r headed to the Superbowl after a win and calling for Gibbs' resignation when we lose but I had this feeling even before the giants game that we were going to lose it. In fact, I was telling my friends that and have been voicing these thoughts to my friends (also skins fans but the more rowdy type) all this time when they were bouncing off the walls after those first two games. Sorry again but i just thought that this would be a good time to voice a dissenting opinion to 12th's thread.

Another positive (to get back to the POINT!!!):
The response from the players has been all-for-one, one-for-all. They are not sniping at each other. Most notably, CP's defense of Ladell, but it's not just that. I think this team is going to use this as a rallying point, a chip on the shoulder. They read the papers, and, yes, they use the internet. They see what's being said. It's gotta sting.
Check out Portis's interview on the John Thomson show. It's linked in a thread at extremeskins (Mods: don't know if it's not kosher to link to them--remove if necessary):
EXTREMESKINS.com - Anyone Just hear the entire Portis interview? (http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213563&page=2)
CP was heated!
I gotta say though, I thought we'd see more of Betts and Portis on the field at the same time. Haven't seen it yet though

I don't think Carter has consistently applied good pressure.
He's got 2 sacks, on pace for ten, and one great strip of Manning. But going over the stats last year, I noticed a disturbing trend. Carter had one third the hurries of Phillip Daniels. Yeah, hes going against better tackles, but he also takes himself out of a lot of plays with his speed rush. Sure 2-3% of passing plays he beats the LT clean and gets there for the sack. But what about the 90% where he's nowhere near the passer? I personally would trade 4 sacks for 20 hurries from the DE position.
One thing I have to give him, he's been a LOT better against the run this season. You can still beat him by running straight at him, but in general he's doing a better job not overpursuing and taking away cutback lanes beautifully. He's just nothing more than an average pass rusher at best.
Have you or anyone else noticed that Carter never mixes up his pass rush moves? He always tries to beat the guy around the end. I guess it works if we are getting pressure up the middle but I'd like to see him mix it up every now and then.
I think Carter is playing solid football. He's certainly not dominating but he is what he is and he's the best pass rusher we have.

Yeah, I have noticed a lack of moves in Andre's "arsenal". I would like to see him not get pushed around the outside almost every down. Atleast he is getting to the QB a little more this year.
I've seen Carter try to spin inside too. He doesn't always try to rush outside, but it makes sense that he does a majority of the time since his speed is his advantage.

How about our punter and kicker areas we thought there should have been some competition but from what they have done so far it looks like that is a strong point.

Frosty is definitely a keeper and "Swishem" isn't far behind. Two good pick ups. How 'bout Rock Cartwright?

All of his kickoff returns looked great if you ask me. Not to mention he took that one in the 4th to the 50 and almost took it to the house.

Reasons to be encouraged:
1. Special Teams have played really well. Cartwright is a great kick returner. Frost and Suisham have been great.
2. Andre Carter has gotten off to a great start
3. ARE has gotten off to a good start. Moss will get his #'s. Good news.
4. London Fletcher...tackling machine
5. New guys on D...Rocky & Landry can play some football
