hey SBF. what qualified Bush to be president besides being the republican son of Bush Sr.? being governor? thank god arnold wasnt born in the US, else i'm sure you'd vote for him next election.

This is somethign that comes up a lot. And there is somethign that qualified bush to defend this country, and thatd cheny. Dick was secretary of defense prior to being vice predident, where as edwards has no experience in defense, which is a primary concern for the country right now.

Bush is an idiot, republican or democrat, theres nothing you can say about Bushs ability to give a speech.

The other concern, and opposite opinion, is that since cheney was qualafied to defend the country, why did so many things go wrong.

if only running the US was only about 'defending the country'. not only is national defense/intelligence in the worst state it's been in decades, but since WHEN do we elect administrations based on the VICE PRESIDENT?

VPs are little more than figureheads, potential future presidents in training. thats why its ok for Edwards to be VP and learn. and NOT ok to have Cheney run the country from behind the curtain. do you remember when the congressional commitee wanted to talk to Bush about 9/11? Bush finally said ok, but ONLY if Cheney came WITH HIM. thats a presidential first.

I wasnt talking about the whole picture on what you want in a president. just on thing that a lot of people have been talking about. When edwards was chosen that was an argument that came up a lot.

VP are more than figureheads though, how can you say that thats all they do. And we dotn elecect admisistartion soley based on teh vicepresident, but as a package of both of them. Both have a large stake in the way the country is run. the election four years ago had a ton to do with the VP. People liked cheney, adn a lot of people hated LIberman.

Plus, the reaseon that intelligence sucks in teh country right now has to do with policies that Clinton enacted. We used to get a large portion of our intelligence from paying criminals, or other 'bad people'. And clinton did away with that. This is one of the leading reasons that 911 happened. You dont ask good people aobut where the bad guys are, its not how it works. Thus since that rule has been ammended, and we have a great deal more information now.

Dont make the mistake of thinking I was just trying to make an argument for bush, i didnt say anything about my partisan in that post. Just some facts about both sides. Thats the problem with arguing politics is that the american people are stupid and beleive what they are told. Im not syaing you are stupid by any means, but if you think the VP is just a figure head and president in training you need to do some research on the government.

all the constant election studies say people vote for the PRESIDENT. NOT the VP, not even them together. at best VPs are sent as highest level emissaries, but their congress job is literally figurehead.

i think the only time the VP would actually make a difference in an election would be if it was WBush/Quayle. can you imagine THAT one?? seriously tho, only a ticket like Kerry/McCain would make a big enough difference in our super polarized partisan elections.

never mentioned Clinton in any of my posts, but if Cheney was such a defense guru why didn't he change (thru Bush of course) the so-obviously broken system? not even after 9/11? not even after the complete strikeout in Iraq? only now when Congress has embarassed them nationally and bi-partisanly??

he did change the system. Do you think that we are using the same system that we were using prior to Bushs electoin. Not even close.

that kinda reminds me of the UN... mercs were paid in parts of africa to keep the peace, and they were liked by the population and doing a good job, until the UN decided it shouldn't use mercs, and those places have gone to shit... and how the UN doesn't want to declare genocide in sudan right now, cause it'd mean they'd actually have to do something about it...
