FRPLG 09-24-2007, 08:11 AM People, it's one game. After a night's rest it wasn't that bad. 17-3 against a team in disarray with a Defense that had allowed only one TD in the last 2 1/2 games. We were overconfident at the half and it burned. Stew on this for two weeks and remember the feeling come December when we are up on the Cowboys 20-0 at the half.
When the O-line gets some reps together JC won't be under pressure the whole game and Al will agree to run right on occasion.
Bullshit. That is an awful team. WE LOST TO AN AWFUL TEAM WITH A PATHETIC FUCKING DEFENSE BECAUSE WE REFUSED TO DO WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO.
SC Skins Fan 09-24-2007, 08:14 AM Since I don't feel like sorting through the full six pages of this ridiculously named thread, I'll just say that from where I was sitting the problem was with the players yesterday and not the coaches. The defense reverted to 2006 form and allowed the Giants to pick up something like 13 first downs in the second half, many of them coming on third down. The Giants stacked the box to stop the run and/or pressure Campbell in the second half and the Redskins were unable to find an identity. They often threw the ball on 1st down, ran it on 2nd, faced 3rd and long and could not convert. Plus, with the defense unable to get off the field and the offense unable to get any first downs (in their 3 or 4 attempts prior to the last drive) the defense was basically on the field the entire 2nd half.
Randle El did all he could in those final minutes and Jason actually came up with a few clutch throws (though he missed Moss on a deep one again, which is looking like a theme now) and they almost overcame all their many mistakes (holding, false start, Casey get your head in the game man!) and the pressure that the Giants put on to at least send it to OT. Unlike the many on the first page of this thread at least I don't have a problem with the play calls (at least not the last three). That first play was one that Sellers scored 7 or 8 touchdowns on in 2005 and after that you would think the Skins could pound it in running off left tackle. Ideally you'd want Portis in there in that situation, but the line got beaten plain and simple. Then you have an inexperienced QB who rushed the offense on that last play, but that is what you get with a guy who has started 9 or 10 games. Jason will learn from that and the whole team will learn from this game.
I think us fans can also learn something about the NFL. We, as well as the team from what it looked like, all looked past the Giants. The Giants, however, came to play yesterday and even in the first half I thought it was pretty clear they had more fire than the Skins did. Yeah, the Skins were up 17-3, but barring a bunch of drops by Burress and some stupid turnovers that could have been different. The Skins should have taken advantage of that situation, but in the second half the Giants made the plays that they missed in the first half and the Skins offense could not do anything. The pass coverage, which has worried me for a while now, broke down when a QB actually made some accurate throws and WRs/TEs actually made catches. The first two weeks guys did not make those plays (i.e. Chambers dropped passes, McNabb's poor throws) and yesterday the Giants did. The Skins need to figure some things out before Detroit comes to town because they throw it all over the place and the Skins need to cover and to get some pressure on the QB, which they did not do at all in the second half yesterday.
Still, don't bail on the team so quickly! What are you, Eagles fans? Come on, f...Joe Gibbs is the most treasonous, heretical thing I could imagine. F you if you are going to jump ship so quickly. This is a team with a young QB, who will be good but is still learning. It is a defense with holes that were exposed yesterday, and a team that is down TWO of its top O-Lineman. It was also a team who probably did not really come to the stadium with as much fire as the Giants. That was the Giants season on the line yesterday and they knew that, and they played like they knew that. From the open that defense was flying around out there and you could tell they had their backs to the wall. Welcome to the NFL.
Sorry for my long response, but I had to put that out there. Thanks to anyone who read it all the way through.
RobH4413 09-24-2007, 08:18 AM Coaching lost this game. No other way around it. We have good players and they took the game out of their hands. They decided to be big fucking pussies and get conservative because for christ's sake "we can't do anything that could be risky with a 14 point lead." well dumb shits a 14 point lead mean shits in the nfl when there is an entire half to play. Pass the fucking ball you spineless fucking assholes!! I am suprised they even let JC play the second half. Those f holes! I am livid about this.
Your an idiot, and a disgrace to Redskins fans.
Instead of saying, "Coaching lost this game (insert generic frustration, followed by a lack of facts, and class for that manner)," why not try and analyze the game? How were we conservative? We threw the ball an awful lot, and on many different downs. That's not very conservative.
Thanks for posting nonsense.
Also, what's an "f hole". A fishing hole?
#56fanatic 09-24-2007, 08:19 AM Al calls the plays. Not Joe.
but it Joe Gibbs football, right? that is what was getting all the props the first two weeks. Joe Gibbs football. well, this is what you get sometimes w/ Joe Gibbs football.
724Skinsfan 09-24-2007, 08:27 AM The team just simply looked out of sync. Perhaps some guys were expecting different playcalling and found it difficult to get on the same page. Campbell still has to work on getting those throws down to his shorter receivers. Sellers is awesome but the throws have to be on the money for him to catch them. He looked more mobile two years ago when he was catching goaline passes.
Saying f.."anyone" is kind of juvenile. I doubt Gibbs woke up Sunday morning thinking up ways to screw up the game. He probably thought that since half of his o-line is out it would be best to get the ball out of Campbell's hands as quickly as possible. The defense looked a lot like last year's in the 3rd quarter giving up the 3rd and long pass plays up the middle. Perhaps they were tired with being on the field too long...
Relax, we've got a bye week coming up to look things over.
12thMan 09-24-2007, 08:41 AM Maybe on this day the Giants just wanted it more,it was a hell of a good game.Relax it's a long season.:goodjob:
Thank you. Plain and simple this isn't a 16-0 team. Geeezzz...we have, what 13 games to get it right.
Skins will be fine. They'll come out of the bye week vs a Detroit team we should be beat.

This was a Giants team we should have beat.

True to some degree, however I would certainly argue that there is such a thing as a "conservative throw" (screens, little tosses, and other "safe, short routes)- which made up most of our passing plays (until we got behind...)
724Skinsfan 09-24-2007, 08:52 AM Come on. When you start expecting to beat someone that's when you get popped in the mouth. That's a basic principle of life.
How many people heard the oft-repeated phrase"classic trap game" by everyone Sunday morning? I probably heard it a dozen times on different radio broadcasts during the 4 hour trip up there. Bad game for many, many reasons.

Yep, and that is what is so frustrating...we can't afford to give away wins...its a shame.
I'm not going to waste more time second guessing, but I DO wish we took more chances down field earlier...the giants had given up 80 points in the first two games...they're secondary is very suspect...I was very surprised we didn't test them more (but mayb that had to do with the "new" right side of the O-line).
on a different point- Dallas is looking good...
