Hi Everybody... (don't know why dr. nick is in my head... lol)
I run XP Pro at home and I keep having issues with streaming video to the 360. I know that .wmv is the only supported file type and that does work. The issue I'm having is that I bit torrent alot and I want to stream the movies to the big tv downstairs. I've converted the divX avi's to .wmv but those files still will not play on the 360. Any ideas why not? I'd appreciate any help...

did you ever get it to work? I could never get any of my files to work, and Im connected via ethernet directly to the computer...

It's hit or miss both with connectivity and the streaming issue. I have set up port forwarding on all requisite ports but it seems as though the 360 doesn't maintain a solid connection. As for the .avi's some work, some won't. When I upgrade to Vista EVENTUALLY, I am curious as to whether or not that will work as you gain some functionality. We shall see.

Ok, I've got it working now. It seems like it was a combination of issues: My router has a hardware firewall built into it and the port forwarding wasn't stable. Another issue was remedied by downloading a different encoder. I'll try to document some of the fixes in case it helps anyone here...
I can't stream videos either

What format are the movies you're trying to share?
I've tried pretty much every format I can, it won't recognize anything on my computer.

Are you able to view pics. listen to music? Also... are the videos in question in your "my videos" directory within "my documents." If the answer to both of those is yes, you should check whichever software you are using to share with (either Media Player 11 or Zune) and edit the sharing settings to allow video sharing.
Yeah I can view pictures and music just fine.
I used media player 11 I'll check those settings. Thanks
