jsarno 09-21-2007, 05:01 PM I'm with Skinsfan69 on this...sort of. Knowing the defensive signals certainly helped but you still have to be able to execute against it. And I don't think they knew any signals when Ellis Hobbs returned the kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown in week one, or when Ty Law had the INT for a TD in the Super Bowl against the Rams, or when Vinatieri kicked two game-winning Super Bowl field goals. True, you can maybe argue that because they knew the signals the offense was able to march downfield to get in field goal position, (if they were indeed videotaping back then) but AV still has to hit those field goals and they weren't gimmes.
No one is arguing what they did hit...they are arguing how they got there. Even just 2 or 3 pivotal plays means a lot in football, and I'm sure they used their info a lot more than just 2 or 3 plays. How many times did the Pats "mysteriously" stop the best offense in the league in that Rams super bowl? Again, we'll never know, but it answers a lot of questions if you ask me.
This conversation boils down to one question:
If it didn't help them, if they didn't use it to cheat, then why do it all?
(nuff said)

It was easy to pick it up with the patriot shirt and pose it for the picture.
I used the shirt.
Ah, my mistake. I got distracted amidst all the poo talk.
skinsfan69 09-21-2007, 05:33 PM you are clueless... you say it doesnt do shit, but you dont know shit... i guess it doesnt help them at all so they are doing it for fun. come on man, your second favorite team, you are telling me that matching up there defensive signals with the plays on the field will not help you game plan in the future. so you like thier game planning, well at least part of it is from illegally obtained info. this teams character is shit. these guys cheat and are extremely arrogant when they win...i bet you like that too dont you. if it quaks like a duck, walks like a duck, looks like a duck, its a fucking duck. these guys talk like dicks, act like arrogant punks, look like cheaters, they are pieces of shit from thier coaching staff on down....jump ship, dont stick up for them, they suck and leave it at that.....or even look at the thread again and see that this is a i hate the pats board donkey.
I don't know shit?? You don't know shit!!!! So I guess the reason Tom Brady rips apart defenses with pin point accuracy is beacuse they steal defensive signals????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? C'mon dude. Let me ask you this Mr. Football expert. Why is it that year in and year out they are a top ten scoring defense? Why is it that they killed SD without Seymour and Harrison? Why is it that they win a Super Bowl with 2nd string guys in the 2ndary? They win a Super Bowl with Troy Brown playing defensive back. You think they do all that because they steal signals? Your comments are simply childish and it shows your football IQ is 0. I just respect good football. It doesn't matter who the team is.

See this is what pisses me off. The reason they stoped the Rams is becacuse Mike Martz is a dumbass playcaller. He thinks his pass game is the best thing since sliced bread. The whole game NE played a soft zone with extra DB's. All he had to do was give to Faulk 35 times and run play action off of it and they would have won the game. But he kept calling pass plays, and the Rams WR's kept getting killed. Dumbest game plan I have ever seen.

Oh my...let's take it easy.
You clearly missed my question.
If they weren't cheating, or trying to cheat, then why are they doing it?
That question is so good, it ends the conversation and should have everyone saying...damn you're right...they cheated.

They cheated. 100%. But it does not affect the outcome.

You can't tell me it's not [i]possible[/b] that they cheated to beat the rams. I'm not saying they did...I'm just not dismissing the possibility they did.
When you get caught doing something as bad as they did, you're entire history and integrity and class comes in to question.
You don't have to like it, but it doesn't make it any more true.

LOL...WHAT? Do you mean it didn't affect the outcome of the Jets game? Cause that I think is true. But this was not their first time, and why cheat if you don't use the info?

Hell no it didn't affect the Jets game. They just abused the Jets. Like SmootSmack said Jets allowed a 108 yard kickoff return. That is pathetic.
I look at it this way. Since Mangini coached under BB it seems to me they should be either changing the signals, or have multiple people giving signals. There are ways to get around that and it's common sense to do it that way since they are running the same defense as the Pats. So if you ask me Mangini is a dumbass for getting had. Football 101.
I think the reason why NE did this is because Mangini has tried to hire coaches from the Pats and he tried to grab Deion Branch. I think there is an unwritten rule that you leave alone the place where you just left if you become a head coach. I'm not saying it's right but that could be the reason behind it.
Defensewins 09-21-2007, 06:22 PM This kind of talk is for losers. In other words it sounds like fans that root for a constantly losing team. "Let's hate them because..."
Sorry but it sounds like a bunch of school girls.
The Pats won three SB's and might win more because they have good players, good coaches and the play smart. Even if you know the play you still have to execute.
In the hey day of the Hogs, we only had three or four running plays. The other team knew what we were going to do and we did it anyway...and kicked ass.
You are really reaching by saying this signal stealing led to victories.
Teams will change the way they send in calls. It is a non-factor now.
End of story.
Don't hate because a team is better than almost everyone else for many years. Regardless of what dicks they might be.
