If we don't have anymore critical injuries I feel we will be okay.

Yeah, the big time injuries to key players needs to FUCKING STOP.

One or two more of those (even if they're not season-ending) and our season could easily be done.

While the second era of Gibbs has generally been regarded as a disappointment, let's look at the injury bug that has hit this team since he's been back:

2004 -- Jansen lost for the season (ruptured achilles)
2005 -- David Patten, put on IR
2006 -- Clinton Portis, Shawn Springs
2007 -- Jon Jansen, Randy Thomas

Those are big time injuries. 2005 was the luckiest we've been so far, and -- surprise! -- that's the year we make the playoffs.

I have to disagree. Thinking about playoffs right now might be fun for us, but it would terrible for the team. For a good example, see last season. When all the players felt they would make the playoffs no matter what.

We have to continue to play with this attitude that no one in the league respects us. That goes for the Texans too. We both are teams that havent won consistently the last decade, so we cant let hubris bring us down.

I don't know if this was in response to my previous comment, but if it is..

Yeah, okay...we dont want the team to be over-confident, but as you said, I as a fan can appreciate such a stat. Im not saying that now I believe we are going to the playoffs, but I am a little more confident about the season..

So I guess I am saying that in general I concede to your argument, but I don't think it is destructive for me as a fan to get excited about such a stat.

its football. any team can beat any team on any given day. statistics like this dont matter. u would have it consider the strength of the schedule and the personel. its just plain stupid to try to figure out

What percentage of 2-0 team make playoffs?? I know this is a wierd question, but I'm curious. Do most?? I'm sure someone knows the answer to this. WHat about 3-0 teams making the playoffs, because if we win next week......Im just curious.

I think they said on espn that it was like 66% of teams that started 2-0 went to the playoffs. not sure on the 3-0 . but first forget all that and just look at the game at hand now.. the vagiants

Yeah you're right, but stats are how we talk about football. Without them you're just giving your opinion. Stats allow you to argue about sports intelligently...

Saying "The Eagles suck!!!" to your eagles fan roomate might satisfying when you're drunk.

But it is much more effective to simply ask "How many Superbowls have you won?"

It may not be a stat that is relevant to their chances any given season, but it will sure piss off an eagles fan.

Seriously - this is really freaking me out. I swear we had this conversation two games in last year, and the year before that.

We went 2-0 in 03 and look what happened. 2-0 means nothing. We go 3-0 or 4-0, that will start meaning alot.

Just a couple of cautionary examples:

2003 - Redskins started 2-0 and wound up 5-11.

1996 - Redskins started 7-1 and wound up 9-7 just missing the playoffs.

I think this team is better than those, certainly better coaching, but my point is that we have along way to go.
