After week 1 the Washington Redskins are ranked:
6. Total Offense (8th - passing yards, 3rd - rushing yards)
Offensive 3rd Down Conversions (7/14, 50%) Tied 5th
14. Total Defense (Tied 23rd passing yards allowed, 5th rushing yards allowed)
Defensive 3rd Down Stops (4/13 30.8%) Tied 7th
Turnover Ratio -1

I just wanted to clarify that 4/13 is how many Miami converted. We stopped them 9/13 or 69.2% of the time. The way I worded it could have been a little better.

Wow, it looks a lot better on paper than it did in the game.

The 3rd down stats on both sides of the ball is especially encouraging.
We just need to finish our drives more effectively (this has been a problem throughout Gibbs 2--gotta get better). Plus, we need to start winning the TO battle. Watching other games this week, you see how much easier that makes things for a team. Short fields, defensive TOs and big momentum shifts all come with winning that battle.
Gotta improve the pass D as well--I know that GW is a "stop the run first" guy (and I'm all for that)--but against the good QBs like McNabb that's going to be a problem. We've got the DBs to blitz more this year--wonder if GW is a bit gun-shy after last years big-play troubles?

Most impressive stat.... Redskins 1-0
vs last year 0 - 1

of course the offense numbers are skewed a little because the best drive of the day came after Regulation ended.
And I hate to sound doom, but as bad as the Fins passing game is 207 yards might be their highlight of the year.

I would be very surprised if 207 was the most yards Trent Green through for in a game this season.

Agreed. Trent Green is a very efficient passer. He's only going to get better as he gets more comfortable in that offense. His biggest problem is going to be Chris Chambers' random butter fingers.
After one game the numbers look good, let's hope they can keep it up and even improve in some areas.

If we maintain those stats against Philli, then I'll be impressed.
There aren't many conclusions we can draw from week 1 until we see how Miami stacks up against Dallas.
After next week, we'll have a lot more info to work with.
