Whether Springs is bitter about he contract dispute or was taking a STAB at the coaches or not, I think it is safe to say that Gibbs is not one to let the size of ones contract or there unwillingness to take a paycut affect the way he coaches his team.

It is possible, however, that Springs' attitude toward the coaching staff has had an effect on his playing time, whether it is directly related, or he is just not performing well in practice as a result.

I have to assume that the blame should fall on Springs for any such controversy. The NFL is a business and if you cannot separate contract dealings from gameplay then you are not being a professional.

It seems to me that Gibbs was being honest when he said the decision was based off what they had seen in practice, and that Springs WILL start at some point this season.

If those comments were truly made by Springs, I think it was way of base and misguided. He was probably just frustrated that he didn't start, and rather then take the responsibility on himself he placed it elsewhere. BAD MOVE

Certainly this is all speculation, but I think it is more likely then some FO conspiracy against good players, manifested within the coaches decisions.

As JC from the post redskin insider said : it does seem to be some sort of punishment on the benching of Springs. He is generally around Redskin park most of the week, practices and meetings, and says that Springs is the best corner they have. He does not feel its anything to do with injury.

like i said earlier, if is in injured then why was he playing at all??? Also, doesn't Gibbs cherish the players that play nicked up, that fight on the field. This stinks of Snyder and his personal vendatas(forgive me if that is spelled wrong)

The entire Springs situation is starting to sound like a Lavar repeat in 2007.

I never understood why people thought it was Springs.

I wish I had a good reason why I thought/think it was Springs. I guess just a gut feeling with influence from the media.

Either way just saw his interview on Sports Net and he said that he doesnt care who starts that it doesnt matter, whatever it takes to win. But he said it with a smerk and kinda "whatever" attitude. I cant really describe the way he said it, but it definately wasnt sincere.

I think in high school you could describe whats going on here as "drama", hopefully not anything to big yet. I really hope theres no bitterness or spite between GW and Springs.

I thought Tom Friend had said it wasn't Springs, I'll see if I can dig that up.

As for Springs claiming to be fully healthy, maybe he is but when's the last time any player admitted to being hurt (short of being on IR)? Players always say they're fine until they absolutely can't take the field.

Especially since he will be looking for a new contract next year. He would like to be able to say he was completely healthy this whole entire season. Being tagged as injury-prone diminishes his market value.

i just think its been so long since Springs has been fully healthy, he doesn't know how that feels anymore. and not to beat a dead horse. but... if he is 100%, lets get him on the field as much as possible

If it was him there's no way the team would have brought him back. Why would you want a guy like that in the locker room??

So is it Fred Smoot's turn this week to have the "hamstring injury"?

Washington Redskins (http://www.redskins.com/team/injuryreport.jsp)

Good article in Today's Wash Post (I think it was today's) about how the corners will be rotated all year to confuse the opponents...and the corners themselves, apparently.
