What is with the green dots on the back of the helmets? Are they there for the refs to help identify the QB? Or are they on all the helmets? What is the point behind them?

They ID the players with headsets.

Why? And I was close then, only the QB's have the dots.

I believe that a defensive player can have a headset as well.

Referees call:

"Illegal greenie on the field, 5yd penalty, still 2nd down!"

Man, I'll bet that would confuse an e-girl , cheese-head, or see-haux fan or two.
