I dunno, I was pretty happy with today. The offense wasn't pretty but I think they did some positive things against a tough D and they definitely ran the ball well.
I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day.

My 5 thoughts:
(1) I definately thought that the Fins were targeting Smoot.
(2) The offense's running game looked solid against a good D
(3) The offense's passing game was very inconsistent, but showed signs of promise. Hey, I didn't know a QB could throw deep.
(4) The defense looked great against the run and so-so against the pass. We really need some pressure up the middle.
(5) Santana Moss looked like the anti-Moss - missing 2-3 catches.
Overall, I'm happy with the result and see signs of hope, but will need 2-3 more weeks to give an accurate assessment of how this team will look towards the end of the season.

We were dominant, just didn't get the ball in the endzone. That will change with time. THe MNF game will be obviosuly a good one. GB is tougher than folks thought or Philly isn't as good.
A little of both on that IMO.

OLINE AND DLINE looked good in the running game which I was a little concerned about. Portis and betts are a very strong one 2 punch.
The LBs played a great game but the back 4 not so well. I loved that we won. So lets build off some of the positives.

Umm, what? You were concerned about the only sure thing on our team? The running game was the only area we shouldn't have had some concern about.

The LB's played great in run stopping, not so much in the pass defending.

0-1 is a lot uglier than 1-0..
The passing game was choppy, no question.. I think Campbell caught a little Brunell-itis and didn't go back over the middle as much after the pick.. Lloyd dogged it on the 2nd int, make a catch or prevent the pick but don't just half-jump and then jog after the DB..
Smoot and Rogers looked less than formidable out there but Green is a solid, smart QB so it's to be expected..
We dominated the line of scrimmage so that's a positive sign.

not all wins are going to be pretty but the overtime march with portis and betts was a thing of beauty.

Im scared for every other D we face, because the running game (The one two punch of CP & LB) is a scary sight. Betts trucked Samuels today for goodness sake

Yep, they definately could have ran that ball right down their throats. I was a little concerned that the 40yd fg was too long, but Suisham nailed it. All in all it was a big W and that's all that matters right now.

Dynamite Rave, It's not like Lloyd gave up on that ball. It would have been an amazing catch anyhow, and he gave his all to try to get it, but he just wasn't able to grab it. I really don't see how you can blame Lloyd on that one. He tried his best. IMO, Lloyd outplayed Moss today.
Randel El looked great, I'd love to see some more of that throughout the season. The ground game looked great, I loved how they juggled RBs (except that time Betts did all the work and Portis got put in right by the redzone. Let Betts finish that off!)
We need more on our passing game. It's a waste if we have to keep Cooley in to block, he's not a blocker. He's an offensive weapon. On another positive note, I saw Betts make 2 very nice blocks, something he was terrible at last year.
Defense looked great on run D. Pass D I'm not as worried as everyone else. I have a few questions, 1) Where are all those GWill blitzes I love to see? 2) Is it me or did 53, 21, and 30 seem to be more or less not near the ball all day? Maybe that was a gameplan, I have no clue. But I didn't see those three get much done.
It's very hard for a pass D to look good when Trent Green has all day to find an open receiver. We have some positive to look at, but we have a lot more negative to look at. It's going to be a very tough week in practice for these guys.
