had theismann not batted down that tipped pass from kim bokamper's grasp, riggins would not have been a factor cause the skins would have lost.
Amen to that, plus add to that the irony of Theismann having been originally drafted by the Dolphins back in 72 ('73?)

This is good for joe since he is the last true franchise qb this team has had.

Good for Joey T. Love or hate him, this guy was a true company man. Congrats Joe, and thanks again for the great memories.

Theismann was one tough SOB. You gotta be tough to wear that one bar face mask. Good for Joe. He is a true Redskin.

Yeah, Theismann was the MAN!!!!!! I don't think the Skins will ever have another franchise QB. I only see JC lasting 2-3 seasons with us.

I think Joe was the only QB that ever returned punts. Do you young guys remember that?

I will prob wear my Theisman jersey... Even though Joe's ego always came before the team, he was a great QB for Gibbs in his first tenure. As a kid I acquired several autographed photos and still write my cursive "J" just like Joe!

I had forgotten about that. I couldn't remember if he had returned punts or if he had punted.

He did both. He returned punts for Coach George Allen because it was the only way he could get on the field. He punted for Coach Gibbs when the regular punter got hurt against the Bears some year. His punt, if I remember correctly, went fo 1 yard or -1 yard or something. It was a big play for the other team. I can't for the life of me remember what the game was. It wasn't a playoff game. If anyone has the scoop on that, let me know.

I remember that game like it was yesterday. Late September 1985, Redskins had a 10 point lead then the tide suddenly turned when Willie Gault returned a kickoff 99 yards for a TD. And I remember Jim McMahon catching a TD pass from Walter Payton. Bears won 45-10.
I think it was the first time I realized the Skins might actually play a season and not make the playoffs
