I know this has been said but i'm kinda sick of hearing how the skins aren't getting any pub, no respect, etc.

The reason we are not getting picked by alot of so called experts is that we were 5-11 last year!! Not too good as The Ole Ball Coach would say.

Now, we all know that we've upgraded in a few areas and i think one can be pretty sure we'll be better but there are some major unanswered questions about this team.

No. 1...Can JC continue to improve and have a good year?

No. 2...Can our D stop anyone (last year we couldn't)?

No one knows the answer so the easy response by "analysts" is they were 5-11 last year so they'll struggle again this year.

Most former skins are critical as not to been seen as a homer i would think too.

I have never had much regard for Schlerths football knowledge, especially when he jumps on the Wade Phillips band wagon, since when is wade a coaching icon? The boy's lost one of the all time great coaches, replaced him with a guy who is nothing more than a coordinator and they are supposed to be better this year? I don't see it.

As for our analogy, what has Gibbs done the past 3 years to warrant the belief that we are playoff bound? We have issues on the O-line, and a first full year starting QB with I might add a real problem if he gets injured for any significant time this season for lack of a backup who can win games.

The only thing I believe we can hang our hats on this up coming season is our defense, I wouldn't be surprised to see a repeat of the 2005 season when the defense carried this team to the playoffs and hid a lot of our lack offensive ability. Yes we are more talented on offense this year but will it really make a big difference? Gibbs has put all his eggs in 1 basket in Campbell, if he's not the goods we are a last place team.

I agree. So what. Like I said, he's dead to me.

As for the Eagles, I sincerely believe they are at the end of the line. Good coaches can stitch to gether a few wins with inferior players for a while, but not forever. As for McNabb, the fact that Jeff Garcia was able to perform better than him in the offense last year is indicative of how average he actually is. All the talk was of his brilliant resurgence and yet his completion percentage was 54% - the same as Campbell's. Also, Trotter going down any time in the last four years would be the best thing that could happen to a defense. He was a liability for them 75% of the time.

They've had multiple opportunities to win the big games and they always fail because they aren't good enough. McNabb isn't good enough. When they crash, they will crash in a big way and I say it's this year.

The Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFC for how many years?? out of anyone in our division they deserve the most respect and most props and hype before the season. They have won the division how many years in a row, nfc champs how many years in a row. to say they are not any good is just homerish. how anyone can say the Eagles are down and out is beyond me. they have not done anything to suggest that. put down the bugandy shades dude and look at it clearly.

I do not have a problem with Stink's comments in that the Eagles and the Cowgirls are the two best teams in the division. I do take exception to two things he said:

1) That the Giants will finish better than the 'Skins this year.
2) That McNabb will be healthy all year. I would love to know on what basis he formed that opinion; Donovan's recent past history would certainly seem to indicate that he will be lucky to play in more than 10 or 11 games this year.

In regards to predictions overall:

If I remember correctly, before last year the MSM was all over the Skins's collective nuts and talking about how great their off-season acquisitions were and how good they would be. I believe during that stupid ESPN rate the whole NFL by position group and overall team things, they had the 'Skins being the 3rd the best team in the NFL. Obviously they were wrong. These guys make predictions to feed our country's insatiable appetite for everything NFL.

Now going completely against what I just said, both Jaws, who watches more film than any analyst and Football Prospectus, which uses a ton of statical analysis, predicted a good year for the 'Skins. So I take that as a good sign.

here is an example of what I say on this board. people go against the skins, they are idiots, someone who says they will be good, and they are the know all be all in the NFL. did you see the NFC east last year? 3 teams made the playoffs. Now of the four in our division, which one did NOT make the playoffs?? right, the skins. what makes you think they would put any of those 3 behind the skins. why should they be?

I'll look at it however I want. They've won the division exactly one years in a row. The Eagles will stop winning at some point. I say its this year. And don't call me dude.

Also, while we're giving props to ESPN, the duece had an awesome 30 minute documentary on last night about Hank Williams Jr. Bravo! They gave the inside scoop on everything you need to know about Hank Jr.'s long-standing relationship with Monday Night Football. For instance, we learn that Hank was originally recruited to do the opening after a phone call from one of the ABC producers to Hank's agent! You can't make that stuff up. I haven't seen such a powerful documentary since The Civil War first premiered on PBS. Can anybody say "Cable Ace Award"?.

As part of the right to telecast such properties as NBA, NASCAR, and NFL ESPN is contractually obliged to televise a certain number of hours of programming provided by their production houses. Such was the case for this Hank Williams show.

Thank God those contractual obligations exist because this program was an absolute delight. Does anyone know when it will be on again?
