irish 09-05-2007, 09:13 AM dont get the fascination of the Eagles? yesterdays news? are you watching football?? 4 straight NFC championships, 1 superbowl appearance, they have key people go down(McNabb, westbrook, TO(in the superbowl year) kerse, trotter and yet they still go deep in the playoffs.
Jim Johnson consistantly has a top notch D that forces turnovers and gets points off of those turnovers. McNabb prior to being hurt last season and previous was having pretty damn good years and has multiple pro bowls under his belt.
As far as who he considers himself to be, so what! he was a Bronco last, played there longer(i think) won a couple of bowls there i believe, so why not. do you think Champ would want to be remembered as a Skin or Bronco?
I agree the Eagles have been doing great lately while the Skins have been terrible for 10+ years. There is no reason for anyone to be high on the skins until they actually do something. Have the skins put pieces in place, yes. However the skins never seem to figure out how to get it done while the Eagles keep winning titles and going deep into the playoffs. When the skins start showing they are a real contender rather than an offseason wonder then they will get support until then dont expect more than what is being said.
birdz4gibbs 09-05-2007, 10:15 AM I don't get the fascination with the Eagles. They are yesterday's news. I can understand making a case for Dallas, but Philly is so obviously on the brink of a total collapse that it boggles the mind to see them ranked so highly.
Jim Johnson is a great defensive mind, but everyone has their limits. They will give up big yards this year. Reid is pre-occupied and embarrassed and McNabb will continue to have a completion percentage in the 50s. I can't wait for the Pam Oliver interview though.
As for Stink, he considers himself a Bronco. Good for him. He is dead to me. He has apparently taken Salisbury as his mentor and the results are predictable: hideously bad television. The Nascar coverage rules, though.
i can honestly say that the espn coverage of the races stinks as well.
for stink he can keep stinking it up with those so called experts at espn.,i mean it really says alot to be sean,s right hand man, lol.
i,m just glad he treats his former bronco coach like a god ......
bigSkinsfan61 09-05-2007, 12:22 PM he said the skins would finish last in the nfc east this year cause they had "made no real changes on Defense."he went on to kiss the asses of wade phillips and donovan mcnab, and said the poke and eagles would be super bowl contenders.i can't friggin' believe this prick was ever a redskin.let's start a petition to get his name removed from the roster of past redskins!!!!i wish i knew where the asshole live so i could go take a dump on his GD doorstep!lololol...yea let me save up a couple a weeks worth of crap for him and let me know when u are going to take a dump on his front porch.....toooo funny....great reply
Maybe there's a reason why he called "stink" and not,.......Einstein??
BTW, I really like Jolly stomped. Before today is out, somebody is getting Jolly Stomped!...............I like that
jsarno 09-05-2007, 02:25 PM It really is amusing to see people get all riled up over what some commentator says. Fact is, Mark provides great insight most of the time, and he's good at what he does. Do I agree with his prediction...absolutely not! But you can't be right about every team every time. You try predicting for every single team and see how well you do by seasons end.
He'll be wrong about the Skins as will Sean Salsbury saying we will have 8 wins (we'll have 10 min.). But don't dog the man cause he thinks the skins will lose. Use common sense.

I like it too, I was thinking it would be a good nickname for our D; the Jolly Stomping Skins D. But I somehow doubt it'll catch on.
jsarno 09-05-2007, 02:29 PM ps- Clayton has us as a super sleeper!
freddyg12 09-05-2007, 02:33 PM The iggles & the Giants have noticeable weaknesses, and they both start w/the LBs. I'd say the Eagles took more steps to upgrade & have developed their own talent to replace old, e.g. Trotter.
The g-men also have coaching & chemistry issues that go deeper than football. Will it bring them together or will they fall apart? I don't see more than 8 wins as likely for them.
The eagles are not nearly as talented on D as in years past. They had trouble stopping the run last year. They could have a winning season, but I think last year they overachieved & will correct that statistically this year.
That said, I really feel we have a shot at the division, but I would have to give the overall edge at this point to Dallas, based solely on talent, not coaching, chemistry, etc.
I can't blame Stink for his prediction alone, but like many said he should note the changes that were made. All any analyst needs to say is that this is a team w/a young qb who isn't proven yet.

Amen to that comment. The HD broadcast is friggin' increadible! Sucks that Joe Gibbs teams will be driving Toyotas though. Sorry, this post belongs somewhere NASCAR related...Anyway, I must agree with some others that the Redskins simply have not done enough to garner a glowing review, much less a positive prediction. Yes, they've made strides this off-season, but they've done this before and fallen flat. Until they start blowing people off the ball (sorry Senator Craig), they'll never get respect.

Also, while we're giving props to ESPN, the duece had an awesome 30 minute documentary on last night about Hank Williams Jr. Bravo! They gave the inside scoop on everything you need to know about Hank Jr.'s long-standing relationship with Monday Night Football. For instance, we learn that Hank was originally recruited to do the opening after a phone call from one of the ABC producers to Hank's agent! You can't make that stuff up. I haven't seen such a powerful documentary since The Civil War first premiered on PBS. Can anybody say "Cable Ace Award"?.
