We have good reason to expect our D to bounce back strong. The additions of Fletcher and Landry fill gaping holes from last year, and guys that were banged up along the defensive line are now healthy and our two rookie DTs from last year have a year under their belts.

If you're underestimating the Skins D you'll be very sorry come Sunday.

I keep reading these "defensive battle" posts and it's laughable... The Redskins D was in the bottom half of the league last season with no reason to suspect it will be a lot better... Our front 7 is arguably one of, if not THE, best in the league...

Since you don't actively follow the Redskins, I'll let this slide. Our defense was number three in 2004 and somewhere in the top ten the next year (I forget where we ranked). In 2006 we had a NUMBER of defensive starters go down with injury. Shawn Springs was arguably the best coverage player the Skins have on defense. He's back fully healthy, with a better safety duo than the Skins have had since that 2004 season as well as better LB play including Fletcher and McIntosh.

If you look a player or two down on the list of "tackle leaders" you'll see that Fletcher is on there too.

Again, why won't this be a defensive battle?

I see issues for the Phins. Their O-line wasn't great last year (allowing 41 sacks), and they didn't make any measurable changes to their personnel. Despite the fact that the O-line coach has the coolest name in the NFL (Hudson Houck), you can't polish a turd.
I also think Cam Cameron is going to seem a lot less smart when he downgrades from Rivers, Tomlinson, and Gates to Green, Brown, and Martin.
The defense made a major acquisition in Joey Porter, but most observers agree that they overpaid for a declining talent. The fact that Porter has been recovering from a knee surgery when the Dolphins physical didn't detect a bad knee should be something of a red flag.
Miami may turn out to be a good team. I expect we'll know around week 6, but they're going to get punched in the mouth on Sunday.

Even if the Skins defense is as bad as you say it is. Can you honestly tell me that your offense would put up thirty plus points on them even in LAST year's shape?!

BTW: For those of you complaining how we show up before the game to talk crap. I am just having some FRIENDLY discussion first of all. Secondly.. Your website is part of the FRN Network. And so is ours. Thats how we found this site. We go to other teams sites all the time.. And they come to ours. It is really a good way to tell what kind of fans a team has. And I will say this.. I may dislike the Skins and they may not be alot of things.. But skins fans are die hard! Gotta love that!

We welcome any fans from any teams as long as they're rational and have a point.

Personally, I love the smack talking before a match up, and I think it adds to the excitement of the game. This is what the NFL is about. Don't feel bullied, but expect fire and brimstone if you don't back up your opinion with facts. That's just how we roll.

If you're underestimating the Skins D you'll be very sorry come Sunday.I don't expect our defense to come back strong, per say. However, its safe to say that if the Dolphins "offense" is planning on coming into our house and just having their way with us, they really have another thing coming.

Last year, teams could throw anywhere on the field against us and have great success. This year you have to gameplan the Skins very differently. If teams want to have success against us, they will have to attack the middle of the field with the running game, and use their running back well in the passing game. Miami has the personel to do this, but if it takes them a while to get going offensively, they may be chasing 14 very quickly.

The Dolphins D, which has been so good for so long, I think is going to struggle mightily against the pass this year. Campbell jumps right out and throws two first half TDs, and then the Skins D bends as the Dolphins play catch up (with some success), but it never really materalizes.

20-16 Redskins.

Are you friggin' kidding??? Your D is better than Miami's??? Dude, put down the chronic and get real... Say your Offense is better, your Special teams is better, or anything else... But please tell me you don't believe that...

On what planet does anyone ring up the Dolphins defense for 31 points???

Here's to a good game (a Dolphins Victory) and no injuries on either side...

Have to agree with you about our front 7. With names like Jason Taylor, Keith Traylor, Zach Thomas,Vonnie Holliday, Joey Porter, and the two up and coming youngsters Channing Crowder and Matt Roth.

Btw.. The last team to score over 30 points on us was Green Bay.. Last year. They were the only team to score that many on us last year.. I also suspect our D will be even better this year with the infusion of youth and skill in Matt Roth and Crowder coming into his 3rd year looking for another 100+ tackle year. Not to mention the addition of Joey Porter. Plus this is the 3rd year in the system in which the majority of the guys have been in for those 3 years. Now is when everything completely comes together. I will go out on a limb and say Miami will finish with a top 3 D this year.
