Drift Reality 08-30-2007, 02:50 PM Apart from the concluding line, it is actually a fairly flattering description of our new acquisitions and Jason Campbell. It almost seems to not match up with the record. I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Reiter, the SI journalist who covered the Skins had zero to do with the record projection. Schneed10 08-30-2007, 03:09 PM It said that Dr. Z made the record projections. So yeah, big disconnect between the writeups and the projections. But seriously, in the NFL these days, anything can happen. This prediction is just as likely to be right as someone who says we'll go 10-6. Hell, the Raiders under Culpepper could make the playoffs. You just never know. I like our chances myself, I think we're going to have scratch and claw early on to win games by scores of like 10-9 or 7-6. The D is going to be nasty, but I think the offensive line is going to take time to come together. I see a repeat of 2005, where the defense helps us tread water, and then in November and December the offense comes together and we reel off a big winning streak. irish 08-30-2007, 03:13 PM Apart from the concluding line, it is actually a fairly flattering description of our new acquisitions and Jason Campbell. I agree, the writing and prediction did not match. I think the prediction is a bit low. 7-9 or 8-8 is more like it for this team. 12thMan 08-30-2007, 03:18 PM It said that Dr. Z made the record projections. I think most of these predictions, including my own:), are a toss at best in most divisions. Even with the NFC East, you really wouldn't be all that wrong by predicting a team like the Giants to take it all...or the Skins for that matter. But I'm with you and the others, I like our chances. I think we're probably closer to a 10-6 team than most people realize. hooskins 08-30-2007, 03:30 PM I agree. They have tons of questions about their D, run game, Oline and QB. 6-10 is a bit harsh, it is pretty much assuming we are in the same position as last year which I do not think is correct... 12thMan 08-30-2007, 03:41 PM I dont see how the Giants even seem to be better this season. No, you're absolutely right about the Giants. All things being equal, they probably could very well end up being last in the division. However, they are the type of team if they get hot, they get on a streak and end up in the playoffs. Beemnseven 08-30-2007, 03:58 PM I agree about the Giants. Along with the K.C. Chiefs, they seem like they are long overdue to implode. You can bet though, that the G-strings will be able to pick us off at least once. No matter how bad they are, seems like we're never able to sweep 'em. Schneed10 08-30-2007, 04:23 PM Yeah it doesn't look real good for the Giants. If you're handicapping it, I think you have to figure they're the most likely of the 4 teams to finish in the basement. Once again though, it's a "you never know" kind of league. What if Eli finally grows a pair and starts playing like his brother? Brees had a sudden awakening a few years ago, and look how things went for the Chargers that year. But luckily for us, I think Campbell is more likely to pull one of those than Eli is. TheMalcolmConnection 08-30-2007, 04:30 PM Let's also remember that Eli had a running game to play off of with Barber. He won't have that this year, so they'll be doing an awful lot of passing. |
