SI.com - Writers - Peter King: My list of the NFL's 500 best players - Wednesday August 29, 2007 12:09PM (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/peter_king/08/28/1to100/)

I'll save you the time of going through this ridiculous list. Apparently, Samuels is our best player and Portis is only slightly better than Betts. To fully appreciate how much our players get the shaft on this thing, look at some of the clowns ranked ahead of them. BTW- Please update if I missed anyone or got a ranking wrong.

122. Chris Samuels
148. Marcus Washington
159. Sean Taylor
191. Santana Moss
202. Clinton Portis
205. Ladell Betts
234. Chris Cooley
255. Jason Campbell
258. Andre Carter
263. LaRon Landry
301. London Fletcher-Baker
319. Sean Springs
325. Randy Thomas
329. Carlos Rogers
441. Antwaan Randle-El
478. Pete Kendall

Read the comments section, apparently he put Dawan(?) Landry (Laron's brother) on his list twice. He also didn't include Derrick Brooks, who might be old but he's still pretty decent.

Basically it seems like he listed as many people as he could think of.

Edit* That's odd, Dawan was on the list twice yesterday. Maybe they edited it to make King looks like less of a d-bag.

I like the inclusion of Russell on the list at 228. Now, I believe that through careful research and consideration, you can slot rookies on this list somewhat accurately. But I don't think Russell could make this list ever, and I don't really think any QB should be in the top 300 as a rookie. At the very least, if you are ignorant to the projection system, at least play the wait and see game.

He also claims "Chicago traded the wrong back" without apparently looking at contract ramifications, or age (somehow).

This article would have been OK if he passed it off as meaningless and fun to do, but the fact that he was serious about this list combined with the fact that it's almost impossible to be accurate on this, combined with the fact that he doesn't (like a lot of sportswriters) really know anything, and you get this clusterfudge.

95. Ronde Barber CB, Bucs Cover corner with Tiki's physicality

I had no idea Ronde was a top ten corner. This list is ridiculous. Who trys to rate the best 1/3 of the leagues players

What a waste of time. King could have spent all that time working on getting the inside scoop on stories we actually care about.

Yikes, Landry better than Fletcher already? This is absurd...

and he still lists him as Fletcher-Baker

No, actually, I did that... :(

I wasn't sure which was correct. Did he drop the Baker?
