I wouldn't be surprised to see our starters play about 1/2 the game. Since we didnt have close to a starting squad on the field game 3. I'd love to see at least our starting line play a series.

I think half a game is way too much to keep the starters in for the final preseason tune up. They need to get them in for a few reps (2 series, 3 max) and then get them out. The rest of the game can be for evaluating the backups and finalizing the roster for opening week. I believe you'll see a much better offense with Samuels, Portis and JC on the field against Miami.

The problem is this O is not fine tuning, they are trying to figure out how to score points and actually do something productive. If JC was a seasoned vet and the O was solid I'd say just play them a bit and be done with it but this O needs reps to figure out what its doing.

The D can take a break.

So you are saying the risk of injury during a meaningless game is worth the reward? Do you think Jacksonville will have their starters in more than 2-3 series? It would be hard to evaluate progress and "fine tune" a starting squad against backups and roster hopefuls.

I agree.

1-2 series max for the starters.

Sure, there's nothing that compares to in-game experience, but we also have to remember that the Skins still DO practice against an NFL defense every day and now the season is starting, they also prepare as though they're playing the other team.

The working out vs ourselves technique didnt work very good last year.

The O-line is bad, the Qb is virtually a rookie, in general the O is terrible. They dont need to be fine tuned, they need to get the motor running because now it dead in the garage. IMO, they need all the work/reps they can get. They can play a half and then be finished.

It didn't? I thought we had the fourth best rushing attack in the league?

I think the reward of getting an almost non-existant O going before the games actually mean something is worth the risk of letting them play the 1st half.

Who cares about rushing stats, they are meaningless. What was the team's final record? Did they make the playoffs?

The answer to both is No. It didnt work. Even Gibbs said so.

So wait, are you blaming the offense or the defense? Because I think we were talking about the offense. I think it's a well-documented stat that if our defense made one more stop we scored plenty of points.
