Redskins Sign Fred Beasley

The Redskins have reportedly (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=447) signed former FA FB Fred Beasley. Fred Beasley was a Pro Bowl FB for the 49ers before sitting out the 2006 season. It is unclear whom the Redskins cut to make way for Beasley.

RB Dee Brown might have been the one let go to make room for him.

I would think they probably cut that rookie FB Pete Schmitt. Anyone know why Beasley sat out '06??

I'd love to hear what the thinking was behind the signing. If he's been out of football since '05 and hasn't drawn a lick of interest from another team, and we already have 2 FB's on the roster, why sign this guy?? Anyone have a guess?

Well we really have one FB in Big Mike and then you have Schmitt, which is probually on his way out the back door.

FB could very well solidify good depth at FB for us, and if I had to guess not cost much.
