I realize our defense was absolutely TERRIBLE last year, but that's more of an exception rather than a rule with Gwilliams. All that said, I can see where people will be very skeptical of us.

Last year i cared for rankings. The year before i did too and the year before that and so on. I don't really care anymore. Pre-season rankings suck.

Much of the reason i don't care is because if someone is not give us respect, this year, i can understand it. We sucked last year and that is what we are going to get. I know i know more about the skins than golic does so why do i care what he thinks.

I'll care when i don't understand the lack of respect. Like if we make the playoffs this year and next year at this time we get 7-9 predictions.

Just play ball. I think we will do well, I hope we will. It's fun to prove the talking heads wrong (<cough> Sean Salisbury <cough>)

Otherwise, I only care what the media heads say about the Skins when they justify my fanaticism and feed my need to feel superior b/c of the team I back.

If they fail to worship the Skins - regardless of the team's prior missteps, they are simply meaningless hacks with no in-depth knowledge of the Skins' and whose biased Skin bashing is:

1) Evidence of an obsessive homerism for some other less worthy team;

2) Merely a repetition of the opinion of some other nationally syndicated talking heads who haven't done anything in-depth on the Skins; or

3) based on unabashed hatred for a) Daniel Snyder and his "fantasy football" ways; b) Joe Gibbs and his "Christian Core Redskins"; 3) Art Monk (see how all the conspiracies tie in nicely?).

what would you like these guys to say. what would be the right thing for you all? 11-5, 12-4, deep playoff run?? come on, be real. I HOPE we go 10-6, 11-5 but realistically can we feel confident is saying that. the norm for this franchise the past 10 years has been sub 500. the exception has been two playoff seasons since 99. The analysts have been somewhat correct in picking where we stand in the NFL for the last 5 or 6 six seasons. These guys have played in the NFL, eat, sleep, and shit football. I dont like to hear sub 500 predictions anymore than you guys, but what have we done lately to prove anyone wrong. the D is a question I dont care how well we play in the preseason. It stunk last year, we made no improvements up front, which has not been good the last two years. Only reason no one mentioned it in 2005 was because we got pressure from other areas. so, upfront we are still the same line as last year. offensively, Campbell is a first year starter, you never know what can happen. he came in last year with no pressure, now he has all the pressure in the world on him. people play differently under different situations related to the amount of pressure they have on them.
You all can't sit here and call them idiots because they dont say things you think you should hear. bottom line, we have not done anything in the past 8+ years to warrant positive feedback from the analysts.

I hope we use the low expectations as motivation. There's nothing in many of these so called analysis petigree that makes them know any more than we do. There are some very knowledgeable people here on this forum, and I value the judgements here just as much (if not more) than I do these guys. They can do a good job at influencing those who have limited insight into the game. Most knowledgeable people have enough creative insight to formulate their own opinions, that's why I render most of their rhetoric useless.

Greenberg: 8-8

Golic: 6-10

John Seibel: 5-11

They basically said the D isn't very good, and they had concerns about Campbell not being ready for prime time.

I think they haven't watched our first team D this preseason.

I understand the concern about Campbell(you have toi take a show-me attitude with any young quarterback), but they could at least notice the fact that we haven't given up a TD this year. They are obviously going by last years rankings. Oh well, I guess they can't be expected to follow every team that closely, even though it is their job.

Skins' always perform better when they are under the radar.

Good point. They are second in the NFL thus far in pre-season in Fewest Points Allowed. Unfortunately, they are third from last in Fewest Points For.

Average those two stats together and you get an 8-8 record. Greenberg nailed it.

I don't think we need anybody to make such ridiculous prediction! Considering what we've seen from preseason, which by the way is not over yet, I really think we can be confident with our D. I'm sure JC will be ready as long as he stay healthy. Let's screw those guys and support our team!
