12thMan 08-23-2007, 01:47 PM Well, his contract got adjusted here in Washington. He got what he wanted, the extra $1 million added to his salary. Seems like now he should be satisfied and would be willing to take any painkillers if need be.
I think that's a crappy rumor though, and just something to fuss over. I don't think this issue will have any impact on the Washington Redskins.
If the Pete Kendall experiment doesn't work out, it won't be because of the painkiller issue. It will be because he has to pick up a new blocking scheme, get used to new teammates, or because he actually gets injured.
For the record, I think the Pete Kendall experiment will work out just fine.
Let's hope so. So now we have two former Jets playing guard for us.
As an aside, Chad Pennington aint looking so good this preseason.
JWsleep 08-23-2007, 01:49 PM From a salary cap standpoint, the Lemar Marshall move now makes all the sense in the world. Cutting Marshall and signing Godfrey cleared approximately $1 million in cap space. I'd be shocked if the Marshall cut wasn't partially driven by the need to clear space for Kendall's $2.7 million hit this season.
To me, the pieces of the puzzle all fit now. The 'Skins clearly have been working behind the scenes to acquire an answer at LG. They needed to clear the cap space, the Marshall move allowed them to fit Kendall under the cap and still maintain enough space to extend Cooley this year if they wish.
It may be just a rumor at this point, but I think the salary cap moves of late speak to this being a 100% done deal. I'd take it to the bank, Kendall is a 'Skin.
Great series of moves IMO. Way to go FO.
Good post, Schneed. I agree.
SmootSmack 08-23-2007, 02:04 PM So it looks like it will be a 2009 pick, conditional pick 4th or 5th (depending on playing time I suppose)
Not a bad deal I suppose. He's old, but he can still hold it down for another couple of years.
70Chip 08-23-2007, 02:06 PM So is there a possibility that Wade could play LT until Samuels comes back? I know he's not 100% himself and it matters less to me since Campbell probably won't play anyway, but it might be some improvement over Heyer. Or does Wade's failure at LG mean he is purely suited to playing the right side?
If Wade is back to being a backup tackle, then I don't see why he shouldn't do exactly that - backup an injured tackle.
BTW, assuming there isn't some poison pill aspect to the Kendall deal, his health or some other surprise, he looks like a brilliant acquisiion, if you look at him as Dockery's replacement. (As oppossed to an act of desperation) Less expensive and at least as good at the very worst. He is oldish but we can just say experienced instead.
I guess I have to give it up for the FO. They never would have gotten a deal like this in FA. I prefer the approach of putting together your team and soldiering forward regardless, but this move seems like it was too good to pass up. (I guess I have visions of Snyder getting carried away and plotting more and more trades every time someone makes a bad play in a pre-season game)

Does anyone know where our roster ranks in terms avg. age per player?
Smooty, check your PM.

skinsfan69 08-23-2007, 02:11 PM Hopefully this allows Wade to go back to his natural position, because frankly Jansen looks like poop. We may need Wade to fill in for Jansen at some point.
Skinny Tee 08-23-2007, 02:16 PM It's a nice aquisition but it seems like it will be a while for him to learn the offense.
I don't see any offensive cohesion with him until the second half of the season.
I like the add, but I don't want to be a dreamer.
JWsleep 08-23-2007, 02:17 PM Don't know if Wade can play on the left, but I imagine he can, if he was going to LG. But having him backup Jansen is crucial.
RMSkins 08-23-2007, 02:23 PM This is a great short term signing by the Skins. Kendall will be able to fill the void at LG, Wade just couldn't get the job done, but who knows if Jansen struggles at RT Wade could jump in there right away. I now feel a hell of a lot more comfortable about the O-line depth. Samuels, Kendall, Rabach, Thomas, Jansen starting, and Wade, Pucillo, Heyer, and Fabini as capable backups. One thing that concerns me is how old our Line is, we're definitely going to need to get some youngblood in here after this season, but we still have this season to be excited about.
