My computer at home has completely frozen on me. When I try to reboot I get a message (that comes on for a split second) that says "Maxtor Error Occurred" then the computer shuts right off again.

Anyone know what this is? I have Windows XP on my desktop at home

Also, if I need to get a new computer tonight what should I buy? I'm just going to get a laptop I think

damn, that kind of sucks. How does that happen? Does it just "expire"

I assume this has been a functioning hard drive for some time and that you've added nothing new recently? Can you tell if the hard drive even starts spinning? Since they are mechanical in nature, hard drives can go bad after a while.

Yeah it starts spinning and then just stops. The problem started when I was trying to log in from home to my work computer (which I do every day) through Citrix. I got an error message and I rebooted. Then my computer went kaput

Honestly, what's weird is it's actually DESCRIBING the name of the drive. I've seen dead drives and it says "Primary Disk 0 Not Found".

Laptop-wise, I'll suggest what I suggest to hooskins. Buy something used from Dell and upgrade it yourself. Very easy and cost effective.

Good luck with your computer machine.
