I dug this up on line because I was curious if we were one of the top two or three teams in payroll. It seems that every year the media points to the size of our payroll to point out how ineffective the team is run and managed. Well, unless we've suddenly catapulted from the number six spot into the number one spot for 2007, this team won't have the added pressure of being the highest paid team in the NFL.

According to Fox Sports, the Atlanta Falcons had the highest payroll in the NFL in 2006 with $117,358,197. The Seattle Seahawks were second with a payroll of $109,593,777. They were the only two teams with a payroll over $100,000,000. On the flipside, the Buffalo Bills had the lowest payroll in 2006 at $49,430,399.

If the 2007 numbers are available, someone please provide.

I thought the collective bargaining agreement required teams to spend a minimum amount on player salaries, equal to the payment dispersed to each team from television revenues. 49 million seems like it would be below that figure. Canuck, Schneed, anyone?

Also, 49 million is the value of the contract they gave Dock. They really must have wanted him.

Where does an MLS franchise get $250 million? Did they borrow it from Countrywide, or what?

Where'd they get the cash? Phil Rizzuto's 'The Money Store' [Sorry Scooter, had to].

Yeah, DB deal was reported to be $250/5 years.

Last night I was back and forth with watching the Skins (on Tivo in HD, via FIOS: Scwheeet!) and the LA Galaxy Vs The NY Red Bulls.

As to Soccer: I have never seen so many hot chicks at a soccer game in my life.

Attendance was over 66,000.

Oh yeah, (DB, not Phil Rizzuto) corner kicked twice in two minutes, placed the ball right on a guys foot to score a goal. Frigging amazing.

I think the enitre league must be ponying (sp?) up for the fee.

EVERYONE in benefitting.

It was the Best MLS could have hoped for:

High scoring (5-4);

Beckham gets three assists,

Home team wins, in the last 5 minutes.

No free kicks to end the game.

Couldn't have scripted it better.
