Dlyne8r 08-20-2007, 11:54 AM It was more like "what was I throwing at the TV" when JC was hit! I had to clear my kids out of the room I was so freaked. I really thought he ripped his ACL, MCL, or something to shreds. I was very pleased to learn later that he wasn't seriously injured. Even though I wanted to jump on the first flight out of Atlanta to personally hunt down the Steeler defender that nearly ruined JC's knee, I did think it was classy for him to come over and offer his regrets. However, I see that there are many varied opinions on his actual motive. I'll reserve final judgement for now.
70Chip 08-20-2007, 12:07 PM Have you ever seen Redskins players dive at the legs of opposing player?
If it were a regular season game, I would want our guys to do the same thing. You can't have your pass rushers thinking, "I hope I don't hurt the Quarterback."
But no. I haven't seen it that I recall. Of course, we were the 31st ranked defense last year, so...

In all the years GW has been coaching them I have never seen them dive at the lower legs of a QB. There have been plenty of opportunities for them to dive, with them getting late to the QB and all, but they never dive.
This whole thing is pretty simple to me and warrants serious punishment and I'm not saying that because it's Jason Campbell, I would be saying the same thing if it was Romo or Eli.
You drive drunk ---> You could kill someone.
You dive at the legs ---> You could end someone's season.
Monkeydad 08-20-2007, 12:18 PM I said...
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"
He's very lucky. He said it best, if his foot was planted, he would've been in BIG trouble.
skinsfan69 08-20-2007, 01:05 PM After thinking more about it, I tend to agree with you now. I said before, that while I don't think it was the dirtiest hit ever I still think it was really cheap and I think the dude needs to be fined by the league. I don't think he should be suspended but he needs to be fined because it really appeared that he could have avoided hitting Campbell's knee if he tried to.
The guy was in the heat of the battle and stumbled and fell into JC's legs. You could see he even tried to wrap JC up while he was getting hit. It was not a dirty hit in the least bit nor should the guy be fined. No way could the defender re-gain his balance, lift his body above JC's waist and hit him. That is just ridicules. It's football and guys are going to get hit and that's just how it is. The league has gotten way to sensitive about this all because of Carson Palmer. That hit on Palmer started all this non sense. In the pocket guys are going to be getting pushed and shoved all over the place and at some point someone is going to fall on the QB's knee. If Andre Carter did the same thing to Tony Romo we all would be defending Carter.
Does anyone remember the hit on Trent Green a few years ago? That is a dirty hit cause Rodney Harrison had plenty of time to pick himself back up, he just choose not to.
KateSkinFan 08-20-2007, 01:33 PM Thanks for the love. Recently moved to NYC last year (for work), but despite being in Giants/Jets territory (and keeping up on Strahan's baby mama drama), my blood will forever remain burgundy and gold. I plan to make it down for games, and will represent at Giants Stadium. Gotta find a Redskin network up here, otherwise all i've got is cable.
Been a fan forever, and know that the only true monument in the nation's capitol, hands down, is RFK. I swear I heard Theismann's leg snap that Monday night; I remember when MC Hammer was the Falcon's 12th Man. And Art Monk (tears well)...Canton...I still have my Mobil yellow seat cushion, the one that 54,999 other fans thew when he caught Rypien's pass that sent us to the SuperBowl. And then the tough love years of revolving coaches and 5-11. Still, you can get through it all if you head to the RV section for some serious tailgaiting. Find a Winnebago called Da Mayor. Back in the day, Marion Barry used it for "community outreach" before the b*tch set him up. A bar owner snagged it in an auction, and there's always a plate.
I could go on, I don't alway live in the past, and promise not to be this wordy. Just thought I'd put out my Redskin cred.
Skins4lifeDVM 08-20-2007, 01:51 PM The hit on Campbell's knee may not have been intentional...but it was illegal. A fine should be in order and I am interested to see if Goodell will maintain order as much "on the field" as he is interested in "off the field".
Also...Stephon Heyer has got to learn to stay with his block and pancake a guy who stumbles like that. In no way should a guy be let go to scramble toward our #1 QB. God damn it grow a set and finish your blocks. Bury the guy into the ground so he can't do anymore damage. I cannot wait until Samuels comes back.
Hail!

Hail! I thought Hayer did a great job on Saturday UNTIL I watched the replay and saw that on that play he looked like a matador or something. It was really disappointing because I think he's better than that. I hope he's a really quick learner.

On the play his footwork was messed up.. He fell for the outside fake and his base wasn't wide enough for him to get back to the inside. It's a common mistake for young lineman, unfortunately Campbell paid the price..
I'm glad Campbell is ok. Hopefully he plays some against Baltimore because he needs to face the best competition he can in order to get better.
Skins4lifeDVM 08-20-2007, 02:43 PM Personally...I do not want JC to play until that backside line is sured up with Samuels. As we have all seen it is way to high a risk to play with a rookie.
Hail!
