at least he scored a TD more than our first or second team did
Evidence Gibbs is Smarter Than Us (Well, Some of Us...)CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 08-14-2007, 11:53 PM at least he scored a TD more than our first or second team did firstdown 08-15-2007, 10:30 AM First of all, I want to apologize to the Mods for doing this...but... These are the stats for Patrick Ramsey so far this preseason. Att 10 Comp 4 Yds 45 Comp % 4.5 Yds/Att 1 TD 1 TD % 10 INT 1 INT % 1 Long 21 Sack/Lost 0/0 QB Rating 47.9 (sorry for the formatting...) I watched the Denver preseason game last night hoping to see P Ram's progress. ( I was always a fan of his, was one of the clowns who thought he didn't get a fair shake...etc.) Well, there was absolutely NO IMPROVEMENT from his time here to what I saw last night. Same happy feet, same tunnel vision, same guy trying to throw through defenders. Keep in mind the stats don't represent how poorly he played. There was another interception called back for a very iffy pass interference and a ball that shot about 30 yards straight up in the air travelled only 10 yards and somehow was not intercepted. (On that last one, he was hit as he threw) I don't mean this thread to start another Ramsey debate, I just thought that with hindsight being 20/20 and Ramsey on his third team, the evidence clearly shows that Gibbs was right. Did anyone else see the game and if so... were your impressions the same as mine? The second interception if im correct one of the defenders knock down the WR than the other defender made the int. that was not an iffy call at all. With only one preseason game and his limited time in a new system its way too early to start posting stats and saying that a player is a bust no matter who they play for. When we let Ramsey go it was the correct move but I for one would like to see him succeed somewhere. MTK 08-15-2007, 11:15 AM He may be smater than us but one thing bothers the crap out of me about him. Right after the game he makes a point to say how JC didn't play well or he said he needs to play better. I was half asleep when he said it but it was total BS. We had to sit through 3 years of inconsistent QB play and not once do I remember him say anything negative about Brunell. I mean nothing. Not even after he stunk it up last year in Phil, or against Dallas, or at NY, or anytime in 04 or 05. Yet the 1st thing he mentions to the reporter after a PRE SEASON GAME is something about HOW JC needs to do better?? WHAT A BUNCH OF BS!!! If you ask me he didn't play bad. 3 competions over 20 yards in one half not including two drops? When did Brunell ever have 6 competions for over 100 yards? Always 14 or 15 for 140 yards seemed to be his average line. Plus JC was under duress all night long. Yes, he misssed some things and the bottom line is we did not score any points. So I'm not letting JC off the hook by any means. Plus one fumble was on him. But give me a damn break. He did some things real well considering how the line played. Just my .02 He doesn't say anything negative about anyone. Gibbs always keeps things like that in-house. On that 2nd interception, the defender that was called for Pass Interference was the same one that intercepted the ball. According to my understanding, the defensive player has just as much right to the ball as the offensive player so incidental contact (which I thought it was) is not a penalty. Regardless, it was double coverage and Ramsey threw back against his body which goes into the whole Ramsey not improving thing... skinsfan69 08-15-2007, 01:21 PM He doesn't say anything negative about anyone. It was hardly overly negative. firstdown 08-15-2007, 01:26 PM Diff of opinion on that one. I think we are talking about the same play the call went against the other defender and not the guy who int. him. The second defender knocked him down before the ball got to them and he was going down as the other d man intercepted the ball. I'm not saying that it was not a bad decision by Ramsey but it was not an iffy call at all. SmootSmack 08-15-2007, 01:27 PM He's made similar comments in the past about Brunell, saying Brunell needs to do better in a certain situation or how he's sure Brunell wishes he had that play back, stuff like that. Yeah that's about as 'negative' as he gets. There seems to be this perception that Brunell can do no wrong in Gibbs' eyes because he is his handpicked guy. Well, Gibbs also stuck his neck out there quite a bit to draft Campbell when Brunell was coming off a solid season in 2005. We seem to forget that Campbell is also Gibbs' handpicked guy. 70Chip 08-15-2007, 01:34 PM I thought that Gibbs' appraisal was honest. Campbell will not be hurt by the truth. He's a soldier. You have to deal with different players differently. Brunell needed someone in his corner. Campbell needs to stay hungry and grounded. Gibbs knows how to do this with quarterbacks. He's been there, done that, three times. |
