I think if they were gonna sign somebody to any substantial contract then spring was the time to do that. Since they signed Dee Brown when Whit got cut, it says that they think the o-line depth wasn't as much a concern as the rb depth, or there weren't any decent o linemen out there cheap.
I agree that Wade is a tackle & I want to keep him there. I think we'll need him at Tackle before the season is over. I wonder if they promised him a chance to start if he'd re-sign?
If Samuels isn't back in a timely fashion, I expect to see us sign a tackle or guard off waivers. I also expect (hope) to see Fabini cut. Wish he could fill in at guard but it doesn't look like he'll fill in anywhere.
Isn't Alan Faneca still holding out in Pittsburgh, too?

I am worried about Jansen. He really seems to be regressing these past couple of years.
This is the real issue isn't it? Parcells saw it before the first Dallas game according to the NYT. He said something like "Jansen's getting pushed back a lot more than he did a couple of years ago." If he keeps playing like he did Saturday, there will be a movement to put Wade at RT and move Pucillo or Fabini in at LG. It's probably already begun.

When this experiment began a few here said put Jansen in at LG & I thought that sounded better than Wade & would allow Jansen to extend his career some. I don't know if he's big enough to play guard inside, but would be good at pulling.
Alan Faneca? Had forgot about him, don't know if he's signed yet or not, but I don't think we should spend big $ at the position.

Mike Pucillo is (last I heard) slated to start at LG in place of an injured Todd Wade this weekend.
My prediction is Pucillo is going to do a solid job this weekend...and a LG controversy will ensue.

So I just watched the game again on TiVo and I wish I can change my vote to being worried. I guess Samuels is very important because pass protection wasnt too great. I wasnt too worried about Campbell, because when he had time he was sharp. I am, however, extremely worried about our run blocking, it looked like we couldnt run worth shit.
Also why keep Cooley in to block the entire game?

I think that Mike Pucillo will take over and do a good job at guard this year. He is athletic, strong, and mobile, and with Joe Bugel to tutor him, I think he will really step up.
I think the Todd Wade experiment at guard isn't going to work; some players are meant to play only certain positions.
I like both the idea of making Jon Jansen a guard after this season, and also promoting Todd Wade to starter at RT this year if Jansen is having a lot of trouble.

Faneca has already said that he is not returning to Pittsburgh.

jansen should have been moved to guard. Wade way to big.
