I guess it's something you'll never be happy with because he's just not going to ever have a lightening quick release. His throwing motion is what it is. I thought his release has been improved enough, he's holding the ball higher in his drop back and the hitch is less pronounced this year, but in the end you can't completely change his motion, especially when it's not a huge issue to begin with. I think his long arms also give the illusion of a slower motion.
I agree that he will never have a Dan Marino type release. I think this is a bigger issue than people think because when teams will start swiping at the ball (especially if this O line does not get its act together by week 1) while its hanging out there and that can create turnovers. I hope I'm wrong but time will tell.

Yaaay! Todd Collins was 5/5 against the defensive guys that won't make the team! He's our backup for the future.
:benched:
Don't overreact guys.

I saw several positives, and several negatives. Overall not bad, but the O-line is a concern.
***I didn't see it in the thread anywhere, but am I the only one who saw Frost jack up the punt returner for the Titans?
That was awesome! They were talking about his high school linebacker experience when he did it. :D

I have to say though I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Todd Collins accurately throw the ball. Not just little screen passes he had that one 20+ yard pass.

I don't think he'll have a problem with defenses knocking down his passes at all. Campbell is a pretty tall guy, so he'll be able to see and deliver the ball over most Dlineman. Also, he doesn't sling the ball sideways or cock from the hip, so I don't see that being an issue.

I am not talking about batted passes, I 'm talking about the ball being swatted from his hand because he has to bring the ball so far back to throw it.
Marino held the ball up by his ear and flicked it, JC cant do that. JC has to bring his arm back to throw and on Sat night it looked like that ball was sitting there for the taking.

Wow what a great way to praise a guy who worked hard and wants to win a spot on rooster list.. I gotta give this guy some credits for trying to tackling with no helmet on.. This guy should be on the rooster, perhaps practice squad..

Oh, I see what you're saying. Perhaps...we'll have to wait and see on that I guess.

I think this is a coaching preference and it seems like this staff does not think that it's going to be a problem. He can put the ball by his ear but it might mess up his accuracy. Leftwitch does the same thing.
If you ever watch any of Spurrier's QB's they will all have the ball right by their ear, and I think he makes his QB's do this.
If you watch Kurt Warner he does the same thing that JC does but he has a much quicker release. He holds the ball low and that is why he fumbles so much which lead him to the bench.

If JC has a career like Kurt Warner Skins fans will be tickled pink.
