My eye doctor tried to sell me on it. At the place he was trying to send me to, he said the cost is roughly $5000.

Supposedly that was one of the very highly skilled places in our area. I'm sure you can do it for much cheaper, but like you said, you get what you pay for.

I really don't think that is bad for permanant vision correction. No more paying for all those supplies and new glasses, and new contacts every 6 months to a year...and for the fact that I could see even in the middle of the night. I'd pay 5k for it.

Rather pay 5k than 2k and have issues with my eyes forever.

I just can't take the risk even if it's small. Glasses work fine for me, plus they make me look less intermediating :)

I can vouch for lasik... had it done four years ago and my vision rocks (have astigmatism in both eyes too). I was wearing -7.5 contacts and now i'm 20/20 in my right eye and close in my left. Normal age will wear your eye sight down, even after lasik, so prepare for that.

The new wavefront technology (custom lasik) gives a spot on analysis of what needs to be done to your cornea.

If you decide to do it, make sure to take the valium when they tell you to take it. Like Season-Ticket Holder says, the only time it hurts is an hour after surgery- and you'll need to pass out during that time.

i dont understand that if you are going to have this done, and its pretty major. why would you try and go cheap? we are talking about your eyesight, right?

I hear there is a place in Juarez, Mexico that will do it for $200 an eye!
