Ade Jimoh Fan Club 07-28-2004, 03:16 PM I think George will take the pressure off the Dallas QB - making their offense that much smoother.
I think - although not prime-time players - Vinny T and Keyshawn Johnson will add a lot of depth to their team.
I think we can beat them - but I'm unhappy with their off-season signings....
SKINSnCANES 07-28-2004, 04:44 PM Ive gotta say TO on this one. And I dont care if its Springs or Smoot that covers him, its going to be a mismatch in their favor either way. Even if we had champ, TO still finds ways to make plays. You just cant shut that guy down all game. People argue that McNabb isnt that accurate of a QB, which could be, but TO is a big target out there.
What I would like to see happen is have McNabb lead TO over the middle and have Taylor and Lavar lay him out a few times, which in turn causes TO to start talking shit and yelling at McNabb, and forming the downward spiral known as the TO Factor.

Exactly. TO has been known to alligator arm more than a few passes. Witness the first 49er-Giants game last year or 2 yrs ago. On one of the first plays of the game, Omar Stoutmire decked him on a deep out. TO was pretty much a no-show for the rest of that game. If LaVar gets a hit on him, it'll be curtains.
Winskins 07-28-2004, 05:48 PM I would definitely have to say that Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse coming to Philly is a bad thing. Terrell Owens is not a very likeable guy, but he is one hell of a wide receiver. He came from San Francisco where he was catching balls with Jerry Rice. He has consistently been one of the most dominant wideouts in the game. He is fast, has great hands, and is a big old target for McNabb to throw to. However, I agree that McNabb is not the most accurate quarterback and I don't think that his strengths cater strongly to TO's strengths. McNabb is an excellent athlete, great team leader, and his vision on the field is superior too, but he will not make the most of Terrell Owens presence.
Jevon Kearse, on the other hand, I think will really add fuel to a line that I don't feel showed very much fire last year. He is strong and blazing fast. Plus, he comes off the snap as fast as anyone that I have seen. I think that he will create problems for a lot of teams, but I think that the Redskins, and Chris Samuels, should do a good job of shutting him down. Just don't count him out because of his injury prone past.
But if you include the Redskins, we have made the biggest fear for other teams in the division. We got a coach who has won 3 superbowls (w/ 3 different running backs and quarterbacks) and has never had a losing season. We went from a rookie staff to one with over 240 years of coaching experience. Furthermore, we added some serious weapons to the offense with the acquisition of Clinton Portis and Mark Brunnel (who is definitely still a great quarterback). We regained one of the best offensive line coaches in NFL history, who has has stellar cast to mold. We have one of the best (and underrated) receiving corps in the league and we gained a real team leader and talent in James Thrash.
On the defensive side of the ball, we got a defensive coordinatoor who has proven himself to be one of the best in all the game. We got a talented young athlete on the defensive line in Cornelius Griffin (who I really have high hopes for) and a linebacking corps that should prove to be among the top. Marcus Washington is an upcoming star that should really shine this year and Barrow is a great role model and very instinctual middle linebacker. However, our best addition on the defense may be the rookie who we're all so hyped about. Sean Taylor is one of the best Safety prospects of the last decade and he should provide not only a great last-line of defense, but also the presense of a big playmaker.
So yeah, other teams offseason moves can make us a little nervous, but I think the moves we made will make them tremble.

I wish I could agree. But 2 yrs ago I was at the 49ers game and Lavar had a clean shot on T.O. that would have droped him for a loss or minimal gain. What happend you ask?Owens bounced off Arrington and ran at least 45 yrds around what at the time seemed like our hole freeking team right in to the endzone where I was siting. :cussing: Lavar is by far my favroite current Redskin so I am not trying to bash him. I am just saying that's how good T.O is!

NM Redskin 07-29-2004, 04:34 AM Trotter to Phi, that one pissed me off. He's a bad ass for them, comes to us, is mediocre, then back to them and will probably be in the pro-bowl again.
Daseal 07-29-2004, 08:18 AM NM Redskins, that's because we didn't use him correctly. Not to mention to whole ACL thing.
backrow 07-29-2004, 03:07 PM I don't agree about Trotter being "All That". He came without any fluid in his knee, and managed to be the leading tackler on an otherwise unspectacular D. He had no speed, and no hops.
Our D was not an attacking D, but, both of you and I would have quickly addapted our game.
Trotter didn't have a first step. There was a number of games where he didn't show up!
He just wasn't a force! Blame it on the knee. Blame it on the Defensive plan, blame it on the surrounding cast, but we could have won the 5 games without him. So, really, how did he make a difference?
To me, he just was not a difference maker!

Please.....trotter ain't all that. I'll take Barrow over him any day.
SKINSnCANES 07-29-2004, 03:57 PM Barrow is a beast, definitly an upgrade over Trotter. Only good thing about Trotter over Barrrow was his age, but barrow is in great shape so we should get a few years out of him while we groom a young guy.
