I wonder what Gibbs is thinking now about his decision to let guys train on their own during the off-season. the two biggest advocates, CP and SM, both show up not ready for the season.

Actually, people put too much importance on the preseason and training camp. Players are now much closer to being "ready" for the season BECAUSE they train all year. Training camp is not as important as it used to be where guys have to come in and drop 30 pounds and get back in shape. Today's athletes are in better shape 365 days a year than guys of the past who needed to work other jobs in the offseason since they weren't getting paid millions. Portis and Moss are probably ready to start Week 1 now and after the bad luck they had last year, I can't blame them for not wanting to risk injuries in games that don't matter.

I mean, really...in all 32 camps this year, someone is either done for the year or nursing sore knees or hammys

I don't see what one has to do with the other.

These guys had these nagging injuries throughout the offseason. It's not anything new.

it is the first week of training camp they still have 4 weeks (not including week 1 reg. season) to deal with these nagging injuries.... there is no reason to rush these guys back and make them do things that may aggravate the injury. they will be fine if it was the regular season these guys would be playing (probably not CS but his is alittle more serious).

You're probably right, it's just disappointing after 8 months to see who is already watching from the sidelines.

Gibbs should make these guys work out here. Until these guys win something they should have no voice on the workout schedule.
