I know it's water way under and past the bridge, but how is Champ Bailey for Portis and a #2 pick looking now??? I blame The Danny for giving LaVar "Ray Lewis" money just prior to Gibbs' arrival, leaving no room to pay Champ according to his true worth as the best shutdown CB in the league. CB's like Champ are harder to come by than franchise QB's IMO.

Oh that's right, WE gave Denver the #2. That makes it even worse.

Not because he has tendinitis, but because he's not the kind of hard worker you need at the RB position to hold up in the long term.
RBs historically wear out very quickly. Most are shadows of their former selves by the time they're 30. The ones who last longer (Curtis Martin, Emmitt Smith) are the ones who work their butts off to stay in shape and healthy.
I think Portis will be good this year, maybe even just as good as he was 2 years ago when he ran for 1500+ for us. But I don't see him ever being as electric as he was in Denver.
That's not to say he still won't be a good back, but I don't think he's going to get any better.
Yeah, he's so lazy that he chased down a Bengal defender to prevent him from scoring a TD in preseason. He was so lazy that he didn't just chase him down, he laid him out in a way Sean Taylor would be proud of.
He's not being lazy, he just realizes that the team is better off if he's healthy in Week 1 and I'm glad he's being cautious. When he steps on the field, he plays as hard as he can, whether it's a scrimmage or a playoff game. That's a GREAT quality.

The point might be made that our stars like to take off the preseason and in turn end up taking off the post season. That hurts!
