NO more frigging excuses!!!!!!!! I am tired of excuses even if there is some basis of truth of them. Last season is history and the guys got banged up. Also, sorry fellas, they are paid a ton of $$$$$$$$$ to perform to the best of their abilities. For Portis to say his heart wasn't in it is unexcusable. That is like me saying, Oh well, my heart is not in my work today so I will just call in sick, or I will do a shitty job. Eventually, if I did that for a prolonged period of time I would most likely end up losing my job. Not good to hear that kind of talk from a rather handsomely paid RB in the NFL. "Oh my heart wasn't in it so I screwed around!!!" This ranks almost as bad as him defending Vick. Clinton should have just said it sucked getting hurt and he wants to come back full force. Saying his heart wasn't in it should worry you guys. A job is a job, and if you get paid nicely for it you should try your utmost to perform your best.

I think your preception of what CP was saying is a little off. I don't think he meant that he didn't want to play his best, I think he meant that after the injuries and the let down of being hurt (not just him) that he lost his drive for football. He is human and I feel good that he was honest about his feelings and where his head was then. Now maybe he can turn it around becuase he sees his mistake in letting himself get down about the game. A little humility goes a long way, and at least he can see it for what it was and learn from it.

You absolutely have to love Portis. What other back of his caliber would be fine with having the 3rd down back end up with more carries in any given week?

I like Suisham,but I wish we had a veteran challenging him,i.e.,Mike V.
I still cant believe that guys out of a job,he was a great kicker
and i dont need to hear Mike V's an ass, blah, blah, blah, heard it all before,I'd still like to have him on the team

Some thoughts after the first day of camp:

1. Gibbs press conferences are highly predictable and filled with boilerplate, but he did say one thing yesterday that jumped out at me. When asked whether the offense would resemble the last few games of last year or the more pass oriented start of the season, I expected him to dance around and say something about balance, blah, blah, blah. Instead, he simply said (words to the effect of) "I thought the offense was better the last six games".

2. In spite of the performance of Ladell Betts last year, which was great, I still believe that Clinton Portis is the best football player on this team and if we are to accomplish anything special this year, it will be Clinton Portis who has to lead us.

3. Their are too many ifs for my liking on the defense. If Marcus Washington, if Cornelius Griffin, if Shawn Springs, if Laron Landry. if Andre Carter. I have doubts.

4. If Brandon Lloyd doesn't show a fundamental change in the way he plays fooball, I think we should ship his ass out sooner and not later, regardless of the cap impact which I'm sure will be horrendous. I don't want to limp along with this guy in tow if he's not contributing.

5. If anyone goes to the scrimmage in Baltimore, would you mind asking those Ravens douchebags if, in light of the fact that Micheal Vick is facing serious consequences from the league and the Falcons for killing a dog (allegedly), they have given any thought to doing anything about the fact that Ray Lewis killed a man (allegedly)?
