Did you guys hear that the NFL is going to do PSA's about dogfighting this season. It has selected some of its top players to do these PSA's. I wonder who they've chosen

Portis I am sure.

I don't understand the question, the Falcons didn't do anything yet. They were told by the powers that be not to do anything until the NFL is done with there investigation. As far as the Falcons going to suspend him 4 games well I don't know if that is what the team should have done. I mean Vick should have taken the high road and sat himself out until this thing is over. Their is no need to put this pressure on the team and his team mates. You know that any interview that a team mate of his will do Vick is going to be the topic of discussion....

I was simply opening up for debate whether or not the Falcons had other options (i.e.-ignore the NFL, cut him, etc.). To me, it seemed that they really had no choice given the mandate from Roger Goodell of the NFL. However, there has been much discussion on why Arthur Blank didn't just cut Vick from the team (i.e.-salary cap hit, NFLPA, etc.)

Here's my take. Whether or not the punishment from the Falcons went through or not, I think it will start to set the standards higher for the teams to get involved a little more with punishing thier players. Maybe they are thinking that if they punished Vick before the commisioner does, it will A. Show the other players that they will not sit by and let thier players do what they want, and wait for the leauge to punish them. B. The leauge might take it a little easier on Vick if he's already been punished (time served). C. It let's Vick know that they don't support his actions, and he's on his own on this one.
I agree with what you have said but do the Falsons have the legal part on their side to support those actions. You have to remember that there is still an employee and employer relationship which each state has laws which must be applied before the Falcons can do anything to avoid legal issues themselfs. Also he has not been convicted of anything and different states have different laws on how an employer can handle these situations.

This is good. One of their players gets caught up in this and now some of their other players are going to lecture the rest of us about how awful dogfighting is. Has it occurred to anyone that the type of people who are attracted to this sort of thing are beyond the reach of a 30 second television advertisement? This is a throwaway idea from a damage-control brainstorming session. Micheal Vick allegedly draws pleasure from watching dogs maul each other and mauling them himself in turn. It doesn't have anything to do with us. Let the courts do their thing and let those of us who aren't sadists enjoy the damn football game in peace.

Wonder if the next SI cover will show Vick hovering over that same dog

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! NICE! Love the sig too....I like Vick but this seems like it was a real Douche Bag move on his part. Kinda sad but, he did it to himself (or so they say)
