70Chip 07-24-2007, 11:38 PM I can't say I ever heard that for Ramsey quite honestly. I can vouch first hand that Shuler (and Frerotte) both struggled mightily to learn Norv's system. Norv insisted that if Aikman could figure the system out, why should he have to "dumb it down" for Shuler and Frerotte.
But that's all in the past
Just a rumor I heard. Speaking of rumors, PFT is re-peddling his "Gibbs wife wants him to quit/Cowher to replace" paragraph as recently as two days ago.
Have you heard anything on that from Nascar folks? I have to say, the people who are disappointed with Gibbs after three years should remember that it took Cowher like 15 years to win his first Super Bowl. I like him okay, but I don't really see him as the second coming of Lombardi the way some people do. I buried this in here on purpose, BTW. I know PFT plays fast and loose. I made a vow not to link anymore (unless it's really, really good)
hesscl34 07-24-2007, 11:43 PM My man Brunell getting so much love... I LOVE HIM. He will be our saving grace.

I'm supposed to meet with some guys from NASCAR and Joe Gibbs Racing later this week. I'll ask.
Sounds like PFT throwing more crap at the wall to see what sticks.

Here ya go Hessy. You can stop Google-ing him now.
crawfish 07-25-2007, 12:05 AM Is there any reason to assume that if Campbell got hurt, Brunell couldn't come in and do exactly what he did last year? Assuming that, is there any reason to assume that the controlled passing game of last year that relied on the skill players to be skilled would not work this season?
Giving up is not really a fault of Brunell. Brunell's main fault is that he is a horribly god awful passer under pressure. Solution: keep Brunell from getting pressured. This assumption that old guys don't care about winning and losing is not only absured by conventional methods, but also statistically incorrect.
My personal preference would be the best guy for the job, and assuming that Bramlet is no better than a replacement level NFL QB, it's Brunell in a landslide.
Here is the problem. One. Our controlled passing game stunk the first 9 weeks of last year. If I see MB throw one more 5 yard pass on 3-8 I am going to cut off my TV.
Two, QB's are going to have guys hanging around them in the pocket. That is just how it is for an NFL QB. That is unless we only send out 2-3 guys out and Sanders does not like to do that. So Mr Brunell needs everything to be perfect in order for him to play well? Aint gonna happen.
Three, does anyone know if this career clipboard holder, Mr. Collins can play? It seems he did OK last year in preseason. Since Brunell can't get it down the field anymore could the coaches take a long look at Collins as the #2? Probably not cause Gibbs still probably has a hard on for Brunell.
offiss 07-25-2007, 12:38 AM I guess it depends on your personal preference. Im my mind it's just as bad or worse to give up(throw it away on 4th down, take a sack, etc.) when you're losing by two scores as it is to turn the ball over while trying to make a play, so I'd prefer one of the young guns.
My point is, the slack won't be picked up at all if Campbell goes down. Brunell may be able to fill in for a week, but if the season hangs in the balance, and Brunell is the savior, we're screwed.
Got that right! And once again rather than give a young QB a chance, we will continue with Brunell and go no were significant, so that next season we can all have the same argument again, WE CAN'T LET MARK GO BECAUSE WE HAVE NO EXPERIENCED QB BEHIND CAMPBELL! We should already have an experienced younger QB behind Campbell but we have been married to a washed up, overpaid loser in Brunell, we just had to have Collins as well last season who is absolutly pathetic, which also detracted from a younger talent learning as a backup.
This notion that we are in trouble if we let Brunell go is a joke, the fact is we are in trouble until we let him go! Sooner or later Gibbs has to cut the cord with this guy and realize that there are people on this planet who can play QB besides his beloved Brunell. If Campbell goes down, all of a sudden Brunell is going to lead us to the promised land? He's proven otherwise, I would much rather have an inexperienced QB in there who has the possiblity of becoming a winner, rather than a proven loser like Brunell. Brunell has had more than his fair share of opportunities to lead this team and has been horrible, time to move on!

I saw Collins play in our last pre season game, he was awful!
KLHJ2 07-25-2007, 12:48 AM I saw Collins play in our last pre season game, he was awful! What made matters worse was the fact that he was QBing against the 5th string defense (exaggeration). He was supposed to know the offense better than anyone on the team, but looked the worst trying to execute it.

Notice a common trend? Did not take a snap, listed as backup. He is the most inexperienced experienced backup in NFL history.
