offiss 07-28-2007, 04:44 AM Not if they signed Aaron Brooks to replace him.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease! Aaron Brooks is a joke, you can file him away with Brunell, and Collins.
offiss 07-28-2007, 04:48 AM If we let Brunell go you all would be crying in your beer the first time JC got hurt....
Not because Brunell was let go, the reason people would start crying is because we have no experienced backup capable of really leading the team that we know of right now, yes people would start crying if Campbell get's hurt, but most would shoot themselves if either Brunell or Collins see the field again.
blchizzleke 07-28-2007, 07:17 AM i say we hold on to brunell hes good insurance and seeing how well our late round picks have panned out these past few years (Robert McCune, anyone? which is probably what would be offered for him) thanks to our mastery in the front office it doesnt look like we would get anything back for him

He led teams to the playoffs and would be considered one of the best backups in the league (according to people who are paid to analyze the NFL).
Defensewins 07-28-2007, 09:25 AM I agree, EARTH, it looks like Joey is the clear cut starter for the Falcons. I can see a possible trade after the season starts if Joey gets injured and the Falcons are actually winning.
Falcons are looking for insurance in the form an experienced backup. They are also cautious just case Joey bag of doughnuts continues to play like Jeff George. Yes, they hope Joey will work but he is unproven. Brunnell while on the down side of his career, gives you a proven NFL QB and an above average backup. That is what Atlanta is looking for...insurance. Not a an expensive starter, they still have Vick's huge cap number to deal with.
htownskinfan 07-28-2007, 09:53 AM I say if ATL wants him, they can have him and good riddance,if JC goes down were screwed anyway cause MB sucks, isnt he coming off shoulder surgery? If MB's not here we dont have to worry about Gibbs pulling JC out of the 1st game at halftime and sticking in brunell, and if you dont think thats a possibility you havent been watching the same Gibbs that I've been watching with his major stiffy for MB,I think you people are forgetting WE WERE THE ONLY TEAM THAT WANTED HIM 3 FRICKIN YEARS AGO!!! overpaid for his sorry ass then because of Gibbs stiffy, please, please,Atlanta take him

You must be a bitter Ramsey fan...LOL...and Ramsey was pulled because he sucked balls. Evidenced by his inability to beat out a rookie with the Jets last year for the backup spot.
Brunnell while not great is the only Redskins QB that has helped us to the 2 round of the playoffs in 15 years. So he has not been a total waste.

The most important characteristic in a backup quarterback is their ability to step in seamlessly and still execute the offense. Typically the 2nd stringer comes in, and the rest of the offense is wary of him. Do you think our offense would be wary of Mark under center. You're crazy if you do. That being said, no one wants their 2nd stringer to see multiple games. So lets hope JC stays standing.
This thread sucks, because anyone that actually thought for a second we were going to make this move is delusional.
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 07-29-2007, 07:40 PM god i would give the falcons a draft pick to take him. So gibbs wont be tempted to use him again.
GTripp0012 07-29-2007, 11:49 PM He led teams to the playoffs and would be considered one of the best backups in the league (according to people who are paid to analyze the NFL).They should be fired.
Honestly, if you are paid to evaluate them and you come to this conclusion, what good are you to your organization?
Anyway, needless to say, I think you just pulled this out of your ass. Aaron Brooks' rep around the league is not good.
