Keenan McCardell/LaRon Landry Update - Redskins Insider (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2007/07/keenan_mccardell_update.html)
Heard the veteran WR has agreed to terms with Houston, as expected. The Skins had some serious interest in him, but only at the right price - the vet. min. He lives in Houston and if he was going to sign anywhere for that kind of money it was going to be there.
The Redskins WR group, to me, leaves much to be desired despite all the money they have spent at that position. There isn't much size there and we'll see if Lloyd or Randle El can be anything close to a productive No. 2 WR this season. Nothing in the past production says they can.
I have a good feeling about Espy, though, and maybe he can provide a spark as a reserve. Maybe they will look to Thrash on third down more as well for those tough 4-5 yard routes over the middle to keep the chains moving.
As for Landry, verified a few things and indeed, the Skins and Landry are just really getting cranked up in contract talks now. Still have much to discuss and I'll stick with a Thursday night/Friday morning prediction on a contract

I still say we will all be pleasantly surprised with Lloyd. He is going to step it up, and JC will be more accurate for him as well.

This is a stat that often gets overlooked (because of his lack of production), but Brandon LLoyd has a higher YPC AVG than Moss. I am not suggetsing that BL is better. I am stating that there is some promise.

I agree...but that might show his tendancy to not go after the throw across the middle.
Still, I think Lloyd knows this is his make or break season. If he doesn't make it here this year, he might as well kiss his career goodbye.

I dont know about kissing his career goodbye, but I do not think that he will be here past next year if he doesn't produce at least a 600 yard season.

Who is going to give him the keys to their offense if he produces what he produced last year again? This is totally make or break for him.
Just for the record, I think (barring injury) he will have 800 or more yards this year depending on how efficient JC is. If JC is ON, then he could reach 1000.

I do not think that he would be a starter elsewhere, but to say his career would be over is a little extreme.
Cowell 07-24-2007, 03:37 AM You can't just end you career because you had 2 bad years with one team. He was pretty good in San Francisco for a couple years.

Well, that's what I eluding to when I say "over". Sure he'll have a team to call home, but he'll be lucky to be a 4th WR somewhere else if he doesn't perform for us this year. His stock will hit rock bottom...is that better?
