BigSKINBauer 07-26-2007, 03:44 PM I haven't been around recently, but that's the funniest video I've seen in a while.
Does anyone else find it odd that a former KKK "chapter leader" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Byrd#Participation_in_the_Ku_Klux_Klan) is decrying dogfighting as barbaric?
i find it odd that KKK members can be elected to Congress.
"Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena."[ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Byrd#_note-5)
YEp that is the number one reason for not joining the KKK.
" Byrd explained that he was a member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Byrd#_note-6) Byrd also said, in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened.""[ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Byrd#_note-WP061905)
To be fair, those comments are a bit more apologetic
firstdown 07-26-2007, 03:59 PM I hope they give up on Vick...so he can hand off to CPO in his Skins uni...I have never seen one human treated so unfairly....They are pits not poddles. UFC is ok! Hell football is more violent than dog fighting. Bullfighting, boxing, cock fights, horse racing, WAR, is that stuff is cool right. Give me break. I love dogs and I still KNOW Mike is a good person.
UFC two people make an informed decision to fight
Football people weigh the risk and pu on a uniform
Bullfihting is illegal here as well as dog fighting and I cannot believe people
still go to bull fights atleast sometimes the bulls get revenge
Cock fighting is illegal in all states if I'm correct
Horse racing the object is not to kill or injure other horses I can see how
some think it is cruel.
War I won't get into that
If you love dogs there is no way you can still believe Vick is a good person. I gave hm a by on given that girl what they say he did because there is know way to know if she knew ahead of time and just framed Vick to make some $. The water bottle we will never know the real truth so I did not judge him on that but only it was dumb to try and carry that onto a plaine. Shooting people the finger was wrong but stuff like that happens so I did not make a big deal of it. Dog fighting and what was done to these dogs is another story and I will not say he is guilty until the courts have decided but it looks really bad for him and what he did. He put himself in this position snd diserves what he is getting. By the way are you related to him and/or on his payroll?

Of course some people think that. Some people still get sexually aroused at the thought of the Florida State blow-out a few years ago in the Sugar Bowl. Some people are STILL thinking he's going to be the best player ever in football. I'm smack in the middle between UVa and VT and as soon as Vick had that good season, you wouldn't believe the hype that VT football got. They are my team as well, but the people jumping on the bandwagon was INSANE.
There are people who will blindly follow anything Michael Vick does regardless of how crappy he has played in the past. "The most exciting player in the NFL." My ass. You want exciting, watch LT.
I agree, from a pure football fan standpoint I LOVE watching LT run the ball. He's got some crazy moves and outstanding vision, and of course enough speed and power to make him a complete package.
I'm amazed that there are people out there defending Vick. Absolutely amazed.
TheMalcolmConnection 07-26-2007, 04:24 PM Honestly, Vick has never impressed me at all. When he runs, I'm like, "Meh, he's fast for a QB." That's all I've ever thought of him.
SmootSmack 07-26-2007, 04:33 PM Can a fair argument be made, particularly if he's found guilty of these charges, that Vick is the biggest #1 overall draft pick bust of all-time? Taking into account how hyped he was coming into the league.
My personal feeling is no he wouldn't be, but I wonder what others think.
TheMalcolmConnection 07-26-2007, 04:44 PM I would say that would be fairly accurate. I think he's a bust now, even WITH the Pro Bowls. There was NOTHING to compare to the hype he got. I don't think a player has been hyped like him since.
djnemo65 07-26-2007, 04:57 PM I think there are bigger busts - people who never contributed anything, like Steve Emtman - but I think Vick is maybe the most shocking collapse of an NFL career, at least that I can remember. Think about it. Coming off his national championship performance he came into the league as a heralded number one pick, excelled in his second season, broke a 30 year playoff winning streak at Lambeau, made the cover of Madden, got hurt but then played in the NFC championship game the following year, and then....
Two straight late season collapses and mediocre numbers followed by the most ignominious exit that I can remember in my lifetime.
It's a tragic story really.

NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Everyone wants to jump on how Vick doesn't have a high completion % and all that crap. But IMO the guy is never going to be a 60% to 65% passer. He's never going to be Steve Young. Perhaps he could be if he got the correct coaching. I know before Young got to SF he was a mess. But I just don't think the pocket is his game. His game is creativity and playmaking. The guy rushed for a 1,000 yards last year and had 20tds and only 13ints. Plus he has taken his team to the playoffs a couple of times including an NFL Champ game. IMO you can win with Vick as your QB.
An important question to ask is how did ATL fare when he was out of the line-up a few years ago when he broke his leg in pre season? They were horrible!
Not meaning to bring up a QB debate, but Brunell had a better rating than Vick last year. But if you asked 32 NFL defensive coordinators who would you rather face, Vick or Brunell? I would bet $1,000 32 out of 32 NFL defensive coordinators would pick Brunell. Some things the guy does just don't show up in the stat sheets.
