jsarno 07-19-2007, 04:11 PM Based on how the media incorrectly convicted him of drug possession in the airport, and the only information I have is second hand via the media - I'm going to hold judgement until the Government and defense have a chance to present their arguments.
If he is guilty then throw the book at him. If the Govt can only come up with circumstantial evidence, I hope Mr. Vick starts sueing some folks who are very quick to write gossip without real evidence.
ESPN (sportscenter I believe) yesterday had a guy that wanted his identity kept under wraps, saying that Vick is a BIG player in the dog fighting games. He has loads of cash, and brings very big dogs. If Vick was innocent, that wouldn't have happened.
Monkeydad 07-19-2007, 04:12 PM i said zero because he has not been found guilty. this reminds me of the duke lax case.
This is nothing like the Duke case.
In the Duke case, they were being accused of something without any legitimate evidence and the prosecutor was trying to pump up his legal resume so he can win an election.
In this case, there is solid evidence that this DID happen on his property and many witnesses that say he was directly involved in it. Plus, this case involves killing living creatures. I've heard that if you see the property, there is NO doubt what went on there.
Monksdown 07-19-2007, 04:29 PM While i voted for 16 games, i have reservations.
First, the players union has only signed on to the new conduct policy based on the commissioner being limited to punishing players who have multiple charges pending. Vick doesn't. His charges are all related to this one problem.
The Vick boys sure have not made their momma proud. The things that were done to these animals are barbaric. The evolution of sadistic, murderous criminals normally stops by animal cruelty on the way to murder.
GhettoDogAllStars 07-19-2007, 04:30 PM I couldn't care less if Vick didn't know what was happening on his property. Being stupid is not a defense. The simple fact that this happened on his property (and I think there is enough evidence of that) makes him guilty in my mind.
I said eight games, but I am leaning towards the entire season.
Chief X_Phackter 07-19-2007, 04:32 PM Yeah, but it says how many "should" he be suspended...not how many will he be.
Well, "should" Goodell stick to that sentiment, then he "should" be suspended for zero games.
saden1 07-19-2007, 04:49 PM An indictment is not a guilty verdict. Until he is found guilty he should be allowed to play. If he is found guilty, I would imagine playing would be the least of his worries.
hesscl34 07-19-2007, 04:49 PM Knowing what you know so far of the Vick case, and considering recent conduct decisions made on the likes of Pacman, Tank, and Chris Henry, if a decision had to be made today what would you do?
I think this is all getting out of control. I think the NFL should make it a rule that if you are convicted of a crime you are no longer allowed to play in the NFL, period.
Darrell_Green_28 07-19-2007, 05:00 PM Looking at his past record and seeing what the commish did Pacman, I voted season BUT If convicted I think he should be BANNED FOR LIFE!
saden1 07-19-2007, 05:09 PM People want him suspended? For what (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Vick#Past_controversy)? As far as the NFL goes, the only conduct he has committed that could lead to suspension was the incident where he gave the fans the middle finger and that incident has already been taken care of.
Until he is convicted the mob needs to get off Vick's dick.
Paintrain 07-19-2007, 05:11 PM Looking at his past record and seeing what the commish did Pacman, I voted season BUT If convicted I think he should be BANNED FOR LIFE!
What past record? Please detail all of his previous legal transgressions.
I don't want to come off as a Vick apologist but the whole 'ban him for the season, the team should suspend/bench him' before anything has been heard in court is a bit over the top. The accusations in the indictment are heinous, I had dogs for years and if anyone did what he's accused of I want them hung by their balls and beaten with baseball bats. But for right now, that's all they are, accusations.
There is zero correlation to PacMan, Henry, Tank or anyone else. They all had repeated arrests, pleas and numerous troubles with the law. Vick was never arrested, charged or convicted in the Miami airport incident. He was a model citizen (as far as any of us knew) on and off the field before his middle finger incident late last year.
I wonder if some people are confusing Marcus Vick's previous trouble and are using guilt by name association to think he's been in the news negatively for a long time.
If he's guilty his suspension will be a vacation compared to his sentence. I still think he'll plead it out after the season, spend 4-8 months in jail and be suspended the 1st 8 games of '08.
