KLHJ2 07-19-2007, 10:41 PM Vick is Finished! There is no way in the world that he is going to recover from this. If I am proven wrong then so be it. I would love to see him return to a successfull career after his suspension (which I believe will last an entire season). The problem is that the negative publicity is going to overshadow any chace of him making a legitimate comeback. This reminds me of Mike Tyson when he got imprissioned and never returned to the form of his prime.
Darrell_Green_28 07-19-2007, 10:54 PM What past record? Please detail all of his previous legal transgressions.
I don't want to come off as a Vick apologist but the whole 'ban him for the season, the team should suspend/bench him' before anything has been heard in court is a bit over the top. The accusations in the indictment are heinous, I had dogs for years and if anyone did what he's accused of I want them hung by their balls and beaten with baseball bats. But for right now, that's all they are, accusations.
There is zero correlation to PacMan, Henry, Tank or anyone else. They all had repeated arrests, pleas and numerous troubles with the law. Vick was never arrested, charged or convicted in the Miami airport incident. He was a model citizen (as far as any of us knew) on and off the field before his middle finger incident late last year.
I wonder if some people are confusing Marcus Vick's previous trouble and are using guilt by name association to think he's been in the news negatively for a long time.
If he's guilty his suspension will be a vacation compared to his sentence. I still think he'll plead it out after the season, spend 4-8 months in jail and be suspended the 1st 8 games of '08.
Ok maybe RECORD was the wrong word, look at his past actions always doing something wrong, hmmm waterbottle with a hide away spot , the female a while back, the way he treats fans, shows you what kind of person he is, hmm and HE owns the property, i dont care who is living on it he is responsible as is any landlord, if the residents get busted selling drugs the govt can seize the house. also what happened with McNair he wasnt driving but he owned the car.. but still got the dwi.
Just his actions tend to tell you what kind of person he is but then everyone will have their own opinion. So we will see what this judge says..
GusFrerotte 07-20-2007, 12:06 AM Everyone on this board has offered very valid reasons for their choice in how many games Vick should be suspended, if any at all. That’s what makes this site so good: intelligent and informed conversation. But what frustrates me so much is this one simple thing: If this incident involved me or any one else on this board, we would be facing insurmountable obstacles. In fact, we most likely would lose our jobs, our income, and even worse, our families. Even if we had NOT been given the opportunity to go through the legal system. Why then should an athlete, or a celebrity, people that have huge amounts of income, be treated any different than we average people?
I totally agree, I still am pissed they let Ray Lewis off for obstruction of justice, when he could have been the perp in the murder he was involved in. They nailed Rae Carruth for murder, but kept Ray Lewis on the field. This was a very big mistake and probably was the precedent that kicked off all this bad behavior. $$$$$$$$$ and prestige can keep you above the law. Just look at OJ and our so called "leaders" in DC. When men are above the law in any nation, look out!!!!!!!
SmootSmack 07-20-2007, 12:08 AM Rae Carruth...ugh, what a slimy bastard. There are other options besides plotting to have your pregnant wife murdered

And with all his money, you would think he would have done it in a smarter way.
BigSKINBauer 07-20-2007, 02:08 AM Pretty sure it was because he missed a meeting.
Article from that game says he was suspended after a DWI arrest.
Illegal-Motion Sickness (washingtonpost.com) (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13594-2004Oct31.html)
"Green Bay scored on its first three possessions with Favre (playing his 197th consecutive game) attacking the Redskins' undermanned secondary; starting safeties Matt Bowen (injury) and Sean Taylor (suspended after a DWI arrest) were out and replacement Andre Lott left with an injury in the first half. "
F...ing article makes me remember the worst call i have ever, ever, ever, ever, ever seen. It was such a good play too. I mean, that was highlight material right there. I remember where i was. In the basement of my old house. I saw the play while talking on the phone with a friend. The play happened and i ran out the room. While screaming for joy my friend told me to STFU because there was a flag. I begged it not to be a holding call. Stupid ref. F... that ref.

Wasn't there a Dolphin, Cecil Collins that got busted for something?
hagams 07-20-2007, 06:41 AM I'm sure it's been said, but he shouldn't have any punishment until after trail etc.
Daseal 07-20-2007, 07:34 AM Hagams: So you're against the pac-man jones suspension too? He hasn't been convicted of a damn thing either. When this policy came out I said I didn't like the grey area giving Goodell lots of room to decide.
Michael Vick went into the commish's office and said "I didn't do it" and this indictment is pretty damn in depth and the feds nearly always get convictions (mid 90%s). I see Vick being gone for the season just for giving the league a black eye.
Mizzin44 07-20-2007, 07:39 AM Had he admitted to the commissioner his involvement earlier I would have said 4 to 6 games. As it's turning out, a full season.
