LOL, he'll still start the 16th game to get the practice, but come out around half time.
or after the first snap.

Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?EARTHQUAKE2689 07-18-2007, 01:51 AM LOL, he'll still start the 16th game to get the practice, but come out around half time. or after the first snap. SmootSmack 07-18-2007, 01:53 AM I don't recall that Ramsey got benched for poor performance. If I remember correctly, he had over a 100 yards in a quarter and a half and had thrown for one touchdown (called back through no fault of Ramsey's) when he was benched for almost the whole season. I also remember that in Ramsey's last game as a Redskin he had a quarterback rating of about 180 and led the Skins in a playoff win against the Giants, only to then be benched for good and traded. The Skins should pick up Culpepper, but they won't. Once again, Gibbs' judgment about Brunell is in the way of sanity as well as being a monumental irritant. Campbell goes down, Skins go down. We have the weakest backup in the NFL. I'd give five Brunells and faily decent bucks for Culpepper. I'd also cut our other worthless backup and bring up Casey for the third option. I don't remember the Redskins playing the Giants in a playoff I think Brunell's value to the team (there I go again talking about Brunell) is greatly underappreciated by the masses. He's not being asked to lead the team on the field. He's there to play when needed but most importantly to help Campbell, sort of serve as another coach and a mentor. I still maintain that in both those categories he's much better than Culpepper. Campbell has spoken highly of him and Brunell has done a very good job of mimicing other offenses in practice jsarno 07-18-2007, 01:55 AM When is the last time he missed any significant playing time during a meaningful game? Or Tom Brady? Unless we're not serious about Campbell, I don't think there is anything to gain from signing Culpepper to be a backup. OK, while they haven't...nor Favre...how many other qb's do that? Look at our division, While Eli played all 16, McNabb played in 10, Garcia 8, and Feeley 2 for the eagles, and for the cowboys Bledsoe played in 6 games before homo came about. FYI- Vinny Testicle and Matt Cassell did have a combined 11 attempts for the Patriots. Look at Denver, Jacksonville, Minnesota, Miami, K.C. and there are plenty more. Now a days, you NEED a back up QB. SmootSmack 07-18-2007, 01:59 AM OK, while they haven't...nor Favre...how many other qb's do that? Now a days, you NEED a back up QB. I doubt they were 11 attempts of any significance. Anyway, look at it this way the final four teams to make the playoffs last year-Bears, Saints, Pats, and Colts each started one quarterback all season long. jsarno 07-18-2007, 02:05 AM I don't remember the Redskins playing the Giants in a playoff. Well, Ramsey NEVER played a playoff game. Here's the proof: Patrick Ramsey statistics - pro-football-reference.com (http://www.profootball-reference.com/players/RamsPa00.htm) Scroll down and you will see no postseason data. Now, in 05, he did play the last game of the season vs the Giants...that might be what he is referring to. But going 5 for 7 is not someone that is worthy of anything. Even in 05, his rating was not over 100...it was 95.3, but he only had 25 attempts all season, so it's not like there was enough to go by. In 04- 74.8 03- 75.8 02- 71.8 I think Brunell's value to the team (there I go again talking about Brunell) is greatly underappreciated by the masses. He's not being asked to lead the team on the field. He's there to play when needed but most importantly to help Campbell, sort of serve as another coach and a mentor. I still maintain that in both those categories he's much better than Culpepper. Campbell has spoken highly of him and Brunell has done a very good job of mimicing other offenses in practice Chemistry wise, I will agree...but again, if Campbell goes down, we literally have NO shot. We are putting all our apples in one basket. jsarno 07-18-2007, 02:12 AM I doubt they were 11 attempts of any significance. Anyway, look at it this way the final four teams to make the playoffs last year-Bears, Saints, Pats, and Colts each started one quarterback all season long. Well, sort of...Griese did play significant time for the bears in weeks 16 and 17. And to use the Bears is weak due to the fact that Grossman was weak for the a lot of the season yet they still won. They won with an amazing D. Also, Jamie Martin played week 17 in place of Brees, and lost. But they didn't need a win there, so it really shouldn't count I guess. Your point is more valid only if you point out that those teams have the best of the best behind center (minus the Bears who had the best of the best on D). Manning and Brady are sure fire HOFers, and Brees is on his way. The majority of teams need a backup. MTK 07-18-2007, 07:18 AM I don't recall that Ramsey got benched for poor performance. Actually he had a 49.4 QB rating when he was benched, 1 INT, 2 fumbles, and was sacked twice. That's about as poor as you can get. hagams 07-18-2007, 08:52 AM 1. It's funny how a "What happens to DC" thread switches to "QB's of our past" thread. 2. Ramsey's did start to suck pretty bad, but then again not every sack is the QB's fault. If I recall correctly even the announcers were pointing out the the O-line wasn't given him a hand getting up, like they were for MB. Even they didn't have faith in him anymore. He needed to be pulled. 3. ALL of our apple's are in one basket with JC, and if (God Forbid) he goes down, it's not looking good for us. 4. But, once again "We are always Super Bowl Continders in July". jdlea 07-18-2007, 09:31 AM I think he's gotta go to Atlanta. Vick is probably going to be suspended and that would be a good opportunity for him to try to get on the field and produce something, anything, that will make people want to bring him in again next season. skinsnut 07-18-2007, 09:36 AM All this talk about Ramsey is driving me nuts...he aint even on the team...his is average at best...remember, he couldn't even do anything with the JETS! UGH...it was a good move to let him go...Say what you like about Brunell, but he DID get us to the playoffs for the first time in FOREVER. He will be a good backup, he knows how to win and remember he stunk most when the offense was brand new. (dont get me wrong...he shouldn't be starting) Regarding Culpepper, the Skins aint gunna touch him. All they should be concerned about is who is the 3rd QB. My main concern with Culpepper is the NFC East. I dont want to see him here and put up Vikings numbers. Is there any chance of him landing in the East? Having Culpepper as a backup/potential starter in the East could potentially hurt us. |
