If Cowher does ever coach here, he will not get total control. The only way to do that would be to buy the team and I don't think it's for sale. And, what if Gibbs does want to stay on as President? No one will run him off. Not Cowher or anybody else.

Also, I think we could end up with worse options than Greg Williams, just for the record.

The only way I see him walking after this year is if 2007 is a repeat of 2006.

Or if we won the Super Bowl.... I think Coach will be here for two more seasons. I think he'll finish all five years on his contract and then leave regardless.

I wouldnt mind seeing him stick around as the team's president if Cowher came on board. Cowher would be a much different coach than we've had here in a while.

In addition, if the skins' dont play great next year, but the defnese returns to form, are we going to dismiss the fact that Gregg Williams is owed $1 Million dollars if HE IS NOT the Skins next head coach? I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss him at this point either....or Saunders. I dont nessicarily think that our next head coach isnt in the orginization already.

Here's the way it's going to be: Saunders is already head coach of the offense. Williams is already the head coach of the defense. Gibbs is the team president. During the games, offensive decisions (FG kicking, punting, accept/decline penalties, etc) will be made by Saunders and all of the defensive decisions will be made by Williams...hmm... I guess Danny Smith will make the special teams decisions. Snyder, Gibbs (& Cerrato?) will make all the talent acquisitions through draft and free agency based on team needs and the two head coaches input. A new era in football is about to begin!

PS: this is just good ole "I hate the off-season" rhetoric.

i am going on record, saying i do not want Greg Williams as the next coach of the redskins

I second that no way in hell I want this guy to be the head coach. Even if our defense was ranked number 1 and set records in 2007.

Why? I know he had a so-so stint in Buffalo, but Belicheck sucked in Cleveland and bounced back. Maybe GW would do the same. Just curious about why you guys are so against him.

It's not that I am against him, it is that he has that Norv Turner feeling to him. He just seems like he knows defense, but he would fail atbeing a leader.

Williams is under contract as Asst. Head Coach - Defense for (I believe) the next two years. If Gibbs were to leave after this year, and the franchise went with someone else, presumably Williams would leave the organization. Does anyone here really think Snyder would make his decision on the head coach because a $4 million buyout turns into a $5 million buyout?

My feeling is that if the decision is between Williams and Joe Flabeetz, and Flabeetz is rated as a hair better than Williams, it's Flabeetz's job. If it's a tie, it's a $1 million tiebreaker.

Yikes. All you have to say is "Norv Turner" and I throw up a little in my mouth.
